Wow... Lee's life has been rough.. no wonder he is who he is. Explains a lot. I would imagine he still has to have "help" to stay stable through each day. Age brings on some nasty mental thoughts that weigh HEAVY on your mind. He didnt seem to appreciate that memory.. and who knows how many other times he's been in a lonely slump? Sometimes life sucks... bad. Makes me appreciate Lee more. Tough guy.. withstands the test of time.

Hey there Sam and Lee. I'm a recent subscriber and an anti-establishment, racist, misogynist, wanker from the USA. I was always a fan of Lee whenever he was competing me being a shorter guy myself. Always loved his physique. Thankfully I was spared the brain eating education you receive in the US and was raised overseas where critical thinking isn't extinct. I had many Aussie friends at my international school and always enjoyed their candor, wit, and sense of humor. Lee and your interaction is especially refreshing given how fucked the world is right now. The mindless echo chamber of shit in the US makes me want to cut my wrist with a rusty butter knife. Anyway, I felt compelled to send a quick quip expressing my appreciation for the BB advice and other stories. Carry on.

Damn Lee... we are the same age - and I wish ta heck I had the self discipline to stay with it like you do. Granted - I didn't turn it into my career focus, so I succumb to distraction pretty easily. I have a habit of going for 4-6 months on, all good to go and pumped up mentally, then just dropping out for 2 or 3 months at a time. Nearly inexplicable too. Tears me up I think too, really bad back... shoulders atrophy and hypertrophy again - over and over. Sigh... Every time I get back in though, I tell myself... this is it - I'm making it a part of daily life - the goals will be met in due time (that of just looking solid and muscular - fit and shaped - nothing competitive or anything). Shouldn't be that hard to do right?? But man - the slightest distraction. Then I feel like a twit crawling back into the gym, so ya kinda avoid it a bit at first. I dunno man. Wish there was a really good resource for mental re-invigoration - ya know for older guys who are in the battle with themselves - for those slacker periods. Can't get motivated by the same old superficial crap we used to - and trying to consistently make it matter on a deeper level is tough sometimes. I refuse to fall off completely - but am pretty exhausted from the on and off bit - with no real results to speak of due to lack of consistency. Getting old fast too.. I swear it's speed'n up I think. ;) Well... back in today I suppose - brush off get back on the horse. Gunna refocus and do my best to stick with it (been on and off training since I was 15 dude lol). At any rate - I rambled hardcore here. Good to see a guy my same age who looks outstanding still. Props man. Aint easy staying focused on one thing for so long. Can't seem to figure out how ya do it. Built like a damn tank tho man. Ya look awesome still. ;) Jason - in Colorado USA

Lee your honesty and coming through it all is an inspiration to many. The IFBB needs real Athlete representation. Not the bull shit they have now with Shawn Ray, but a real Union. It would also do away with the bull shit prize money they give out. The UFC is about to find this out as athletes are starting to wake up. They will probably be unionized in they next 5-7 years. Sounds like a long time, but look how long Bodybuilding has been around with nothing.

Hi Sam - great work on the channel, fast becoming my favourite. Can you ask Lee what he thinks about the role of sleep and how important it is? On one hand the conventional wisdom says more sleep = more growth, but then Arnold's been telling everyone to "sleep faster" for years, and apparently slept 6 hours a night. I sleep 5 1/2 on average and workout 5 days a week... Is lack of sleep buggering up my gains?
