Great to see an update on Lee's Princess, it can't be easy to make panels on an old car. Hopefully the 100 club special will be able to keep other cars on the road too!👍
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes the club special will save mine especially and also others that may need parts and certain panels... Front wings especially.... Im keeping those... Like I said in my intro, everything that makes it a club, will be saved, including the naughty bits that make rotten escort shells worth fortune. So maybe later on in life (if I live that long) should a half decent Princess become available, ill have everything I need to "create" the car again... or in other words, a reshell 🤔

Nice to see Lee putting some love into Mrs Winn. Looks like the rear passenger side has been welded before. I like Lee; unfiltered, like yourself Rick. Genuine. Mrs. Winn will get there in time, and I hope you had a wonderful time at the HubNut social! Thanks Rick!
@AgathaAndAnything3 жыл бұрын
Hey, yes it’s had work looking at it, sadly I didn’t make the Hubnut social, I got let down with someone to go with and with Agatha needing repairs I didn’t fancy the landy…
@frothe423 жыл бұрын
@@AgathaAndAnything I'm so sorry Rick that you could not make the social! I do hope you repair Agatha as quickly as you can. Nice to feature your friend Lee, as I do like his collection of Ambassadors and Mrs Winn the Princess.

Thanks for that Rick, I wondered how Lee was getting on, good to see the work on the brown Princess, it’s a shame about the 100 club special but I can see where Lee’s coming from, the Leyland Princesses are getting rare cars anyway these days and as he’s got other projects on the go there is only so much time you can spend on vehicles when you have a “fleet” to look after.
@AgathaAndAnything3 жыл бұрын
I’ve seen the 100 club in the metal, it’s also briefly on the video I did of his cars in Agatha Meets, he’s offered it for sale and people either want it for nothing or don’t want to save it themselves but think they have the right to call him out for not fixing it himself with his own time and money…. I know right? So if it helps Mrs Winn then I say fair play to him….
@willswheels2833 жыл бұрын
@@AgathaAndAnything Precisely, if they really wanted it they’d be prepared to offer Lee something for it. I’d say good on him, he’s saving the better car, I could see from your vid the 100 club special was somewhat worse for wear, so he’s doing the right thing, using it as a donor vehicle.

Great fabrication Lee, labour of love to save the Princess. Interesting about the wheel arches, my dad had a June 1978 brooklands green Princess till 1987 & 74,000 miles, rear wheel arches repaired twice in that time, but Never welded underneath, probably rotten, but always garaged.
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Mrs Winn has had rear arch repair panels in the past... they done a horrible job to be honest... but I guess back in heyday as an everyday hack, it was all done ro keep the car on the road as such... however, what causes the rot in the first place had never been addressed... and why would they, back then it was probably only worth a round of drinks.... I guess no one would have thought this old boys motor would still be in existence... I do hope he's looking down on me with a smile and wishing me luck 😁

@@leelee1973la I am sure the previous owner will be, and the fact they are so rare now. An Old boy told dad to never wash the vinyl roof with water, just use damp cloth, maybe for that reason. Dads was a 1.8 base with Added top roof vinyl & wheel trims to look like an HLS, vinyl had dodgy joint onto the pillars. He sold it privately for £595 in late 1987, but got a 100,000 mile Ford Sierra 2.0GL for £2500, neighbours ex company car, very reliable car.

Thanks for that Lee/Rick! She’s coming on a bundle, that looks really good under there, looks very tidy, plenty of underseal. Not long now before she’s on her wheels and rolling! Looking forwards to the next instalment.

It keeps some content coming and although Lee enjoys doing videos he doesn’t want his own channel (I’ve offered to make him one) I don’t mind hosting the videos as most subscribers know we do a fair few things together so it works.

Another great informative vid thanks Lee and Rick, has Lee driven the Princess at all before she was laid up? A fair bit of work to do there, looking forwards to seeing “Mrs Winn” back on the road, Love the Vespa GTS300 by the way, shame Lee can’t ride it anymore, but they are good scoots, capable of doing around 90mph I think. If I had the dough I’d make him an offer, but I don’t so hopefully somebody will have it off him.
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
Hi Will. Yes Mrs Winn was driven almost every day. My problem is that I get driven to distraction with other projects which seem like a good idea at the time. I still ride the GTS, its the bike (Yamaha) I can no longer ride.
@willswheels2833 жыл бұрын
@@leelee1973la Hi Lee, so did the purchase of one of the Ambassadors distract you then?
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
@@willswheels283 No, it was the purchase of the GTS, then the bike came along and I was enjoying 2 wheels for too long. I put all the cars on the back burner for a while as I was losing interest and kinda needed a break.

Crickey what a horrid repair to have to make. I’d have a bit board down the back of that passenger seat to protect from flying sparks or maybe even take both seats out as it’ll ‘smoke’ the interior sadly -I always have the doors open to let the smoke out. But yeah 👍 good shout & cats are better than dugs. 😊
@iainf3 жыл бұрын
Forgot to add I have a small compressor (Sip Moby) that I use to cook down the welded area to stop it all getting too hot. Also useful for knocking out underseal flames etc.
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Iain. All noted and taken on board. During the filming bits I've got everything out of the way.... i've only got 1 pair of hands.. and no fancy pants phone holders, tripods and selfie stick and all that malarkey. While doing the work stuff... everything is protected 😉 If take the front seats out, but I've got nowhere to store them at the moment.... the wife will only allow so much car stuff stored in the spare room..... its already full 🤣
@iainf3 жыл бұрын
@@leelee1973la just take them out when you’re doing the welding then place them back in (unbolted) when you’re finished for the day. It’s always amazing the amount of smoke thrown out when you get going. I’ve also got an extractor set up but I use that more in a confined space. Nice repair plate btw. For a job like that I’d be looking at the thicker metal (1.0 or 1.1mm ? ) than the standard thinner 0.8mm stuff. It really makes a difference.
@leelee1973la3 жыл бұрын
The floor plate was done using 1.1mm, took some effort to get those ribs pressed in.. 2 sheets off 3/4 ply wood and beading from B@Q.... sandwiched together and pressed together with a loaded transit van driven over it a few times.) And the repair plates are 1.5mm.
@iainf3 жыл бұрын
Apologies I thought the mount was a lot thinner. Yeah the repair panel looked good-be interest to see the pressings being made.👍
