I love this man. I was ten years old when he won his first U.S. Open and watched him on TV. Being Hispanic I was overcome with pride and this accomplishment is what got me into a life-long love of the game of golf. I've been playing for over 50 years now and Lee Buck Trevino still inspires me. He is a national treasure and a model for the American spirit. God bless you Lee!

I was lucky enough to play with Trevino in the Tucson Open. He hit the ball extremely, extremely accurately. He also was very, very competitive. Very tough mentally. His joking was a deceptive practice. Inside he was dead serious. Incredibly good at golf. 6 majors !!! ⛳

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Trevino in 1985 at the Belfry when he was captain of the US Team.I worked there and served him and his team at the end of the match in a private room . Even though they had lost, he and the team were gentlemen and a true professionals.

Loved him. Followed him at the PGA at Firestone for nine holes in the practice round, and he threw a wedge at me , and let me carry it down the fairway, with 20 other young kids. Great person, and great player

I love this guy, he is so nice. I had the pleasure of meeting him and following around a course, he never shuts up, but he can hit the ball. His style has influenced and we are almost the same age. Somebody tell me where i can get one of his hats.

One of my heroes along with Mr Hogan. They had similar upbringings and both regarded as the best ball strikers ever ( Jack Nicklaus said this much ). Go figure.

No one had more guts than Lee Trevino. When he was in the running, he never folded up, even when his opposition was Jack Nicklaus or Gary Player. He was a Marine machine-gunner, not a country club brat, and when he got up against the rich kids, he never backed down. His only mistake was his temper which he let talk him into not playing the Masters bec. he hated Clifford Roberts. Roberts was a bigot, and Lee could not stand the man...so for three years, right in his prime, he did not play the Masters. It's too bad, bec he could have laughed in Roberts face if he had won it.

Lee Trevino a Gusty guy. Loved his game and outgoing personality. A true legend.
@williamtaylor51933 жыл бұрын
@@jeffreysmith5175 There was a lot about the Masters that Lee didn't like---the privilege, the formality, the tradition, etc., but also the course. He would be the first to tell you that his trajectory wasn't suited for Augusta.
@Pronzini13 жыл бұрын
@@redpez4886 didnt say he was bitter. He just couldn't stomach the bigot Clifford Roberts

It just goes to show how hard you have to work at being really good in golf. Lee Trevino and many others spent countless hours on the course. It's not something you gotta do, it's something that's in your blood. It comes naturally. Your work ethics are way above your average Joe blow. Lee Trevino had that, like Nicklaus and alot of others on the golf tour. Tiger Woods worked on his game starting early as 4 in the morning until dark. 70 to 80 hours a week. So you wanna be good I mean really good, well your better have the work ethics to be able to do that.
@williamtaylor51933 жыл бұрын
So true man. Like Hogan said, there isn't enough day light to practice everything you need in golf. Every golfer knows that the weakest link in the chain has a way of finding you over the course of 18 holes. The only way to succeed is to be prepared for everything.
