HYDE produced this song and he's known for his deep singing voice, which is reflected in the original of this song too, even if he wasn't the one singing it, you can definitely hear his style in the song.

This anime really hits you different with all the levels it touches. - Freedom to choose - Courage to live - Finding love - Corruption and Treason beyond imagination - the Horror of a dystopian future where humans are nothing but empty shells This anime hit me (a philosophy loving single guy) like very few things ever did. The witch is a single person before the shitty VIRM retcons and he's the devil looming over Papa's shoulder. Papa himself, before the retcons, is secretly the Klaxofied Prince in disguise. He's evolved into humanity's Priest King. He can still thirst for water and his heart is scarred from his heartbreak of abandonment. The Prince in the fairytale went out of his way for everything to find his wife before he eventually lost his humanity.) It's a bittersweet love song of reconnection that tells a more compelling story than the anime itself.

For me it started out like "oh nice wholesome anime!" And progressively the feels were under siege. This anime touched all the heartstrings with each and every episode. I am not afraid to admit that in the end I was already bawling my eyes out. For story reasons I believe the series can continue. Zero two and hiro is a much better Romeo Juliet story if you could/would call it that. The song (since I don't speak or understand Nippon/japanese just yet) hits hard cause in a sense I want that feeling. A love like that...never expressed more perfectly than the lyrics themselves. It's not depression it's understanding that level of love and hoping one day you can embrace that feeling personally. Darling in the franxx is the best anime of all time hands down.

I took me a good 3-4 months to get over my heart break from watching this anime 😭 then I hear this song and start crying again because it’s just so emotional and good 🥺💗 Honestly Zero Two and Hiro’s love story is so touching and good that my heart feels like it’s being squished listening to this song 😭😭😭😭😭😭. I wish they didn’t have to both go like that at the end of the anime 😪 such a damn good anime hands down
