Amazing how much the railway in Leeds has changed since 1989. Used to travel regularly from the crappy old station; fun to see it again after all this time.

Seeing the old corigated roofing and metal support frames brings back memories of arriving at the station to go shopping in the late 80s and early 1990s. In 1999 the station had a huge redevelopment and the station we see today took shape. I remember it most as during this point in my life I was often out clubbing in the city centre so we would look to get a train back to York in the early hours. The redeveloped work cause many problems in getting home.

I miss the old Leeds with the parcels bay. I remember seeing so many different diesels in there when I went into Leeds with my parents in the 80s and 90s.I had no idea that class 128 parcels units came into Leeds though and was surprised to see one in your video near the end in Royal Mail red.

Now, who on earth is ringing the door bell when you're travelling at that speed. Don't passengers realise the driver is busy steering round all those corners?!

Leeds was a great place to live and work in the 1980's, before it got totally yuppy-fied. The station then was a pleasant place to linger, waiting for a train, now you get rushed around by train company workers who have been drilled in crowd control.

Leeds looks fab in this film, far better than today, especially with those old buildings right up against the tracks.

Leeds looked grim in the 70s and 80s. Far better now…

@@davidcolley7714 Even though your reply is lacking grace, I will agree with you that things have improved. By 1992 the changes to predestination the city centre had the effect of cleaning up the roads and streets with the new bricket roads. Leeds is no Palace however its not as dirty and industrial 🏭 as in the 1980s. In the 1980s you could not fish in the aire as the pollution was so bad. Today the fish 🐠 levels are fine and its safe to fish if not swim 🏊.

@@Robert_Manners Yes you are quite right, my comment was crass, for which I wish to apologise unreservedly
