I’m just amazed how you don’t have more subscribers than you do... and I’m not even a Leeds fan.... I subbed because 1) it’s a wonderful history lesson 2) this is put together SO well and 3) there was a lot of characters in this team that I would like to learn more about.... and the person running this channel is telling there story with the proper justice that it deserves .

Im not a Leeds fan (More fond of the red team in Manchester) but I look forward to all these videos. I dont know how you dont have more subs. This period of English football history is my favourite and theres nobody else on youtube making well edited stuff on 70s - 80s football like yours.

Everton were always near the top of the league at Christmas in those days by but disappeared after Christmas We beat them 4 .1 in the cup and I think we beat them 5.1 in the league . 5 of us 4 Leeds fans and a Man u went to the Old Trafford game with George again . George never took us in the Leeds end so we went in the Stretford End . I didn't realise there were seats at the back . Allan Clarke scored the worse goal of his career right in front of us in the Stretford End . He miss hit his shot .because he was normally such a good finisher Stepney dived the way the ball should have gone . The Man U defenders also kind of ran into each other as some reacted to the miss kick and other followed Stepney . as Clarkes shot trickled towards the goal you could see them all trying reposition them selves and get there before it went over the line . As they continued to get in each others way the ball and rebounded into the net of the post . We all looked at each other wondering what to do .we ere only 15 /16 . In the end we just smiled at each other .Our Man u supporting friend Chris said he was going to grass us up .We said but your going back with us on your own . Then he walked off in a huff . We looked up as the game kicked off again and you could see the Leeds fans at the other end of the ground having a bad time of it . But 1.0 TO Leeds .

I like these videos but the music doesn't really sum up the mood of the times. People may think that punk was all-consuming in 1978 but it really wasn't. If you were in that music paper bubble, as I was at the time, it certainly seemed that way, but if you look at the charts you realise that for most people punk was just another option and didn't identify with it in a tribal way. The Bee Gees and Boney M were much, much more popular than any band that NME or sounds readers would have been following. Most people on the terraces have always been a reflection of society as a whole and never associated with niche music.

Fair enough but this was always intended as a personal recollection, hence the choice of contemporary songs and where applicable lyrics to match, although you will find some Bee Gees and Boney M amongst the episodes!

@@Lufcfilms Absolutely loved your pick of music. Hearing Sham 69 & the Stranglers during some of the hooliganism scenes was ace. Then I remember the Undertones popping up as well. It's pure seventies magic. Leeds were as tough as it gets, so much of the music matches not only the times, but the unfolding events.

I was at school in 1978 and most lads were into either disco dressed casual or heavy metal and wore denim with band patches on IE Saxon Def leopard etc

Although some of the violence on and off the field was a little bit too much, the game is very sterile affair now and sadly it is to its detriment.
