gosh I want one of those leeds shirts - I had the away strip in yellow back in 78 when I was at school - I used to parade up and down in it showing off! Leeds had the most stylish kits in the 70s.

I was at this truly memorable game. Tony Currie was just the best player I have ever seen play the game. Arthur Graham was brilliant as well.

So was I, I was 8 and spent probably the next two years attempting to score a goal like Tony Currie's in every kick about and school game I played in. Never could get the ball to bend like he did, though.

Currie's shooting and passing with the outside of his foot: special! Good saves from David Harvey as well. Saints goalkeeper Terry Gennoe started out as a youngster at Leeds.

Just amazing that Tony Currie never got more England caps than he did. Sheffield United,Leeds United and QPR...what a career.

Carlton Palmer won more England caps than Tony Currie. There, in a nutshell, is why our national side never win anything.

There's a popular football video of the Marsh & Best period at Fulham, which lasted for a few matches. Well, bollox to that - we got to see Tony Currie and Eddie Gray in the same team for a couple of years. We won fuck all during this period, but you turned up to watch 90 minutes in those days rather than one of a series of 42 matches. This video explains why this shirt is still the best selling retro shirt at Elland Road. MOT.

Ray hankin recently said that Tonie Currie would be worth a hundred million today

with digital technology it must be possible to revisit old footage and calculate the most curling shot of all time: this would surely be not far off.

I know that Southampton are hardly the best of away fans but bloody hell! there must only be 200 away fans there.

Could Martin Tyler be more sarcastic about Paul Madeley's goal coming for Leeds United on Boxing Day 1975. Well I was at Maine Road that day and Paul Madeley leaped above everybody to head in the winner for Leeds at City.
