I recently rode my first Yutong bus with operator Ember from Dundee to Edinburgh. It was a beautiful ride.

Ah that sounds good, that Ember do appear to be doing well. I intend to pop up at some point soon to sample them myself

I have tried 68804 and 68807 and agree the seats would be uncomfortable for the whole length of the route. I noticed in both bused that the audio announcements were rather quiet and details could be missed, especially if the buses were full. If seated towards the rear on the near side, the screen showing the next stop details is obscured by the hanging brackets holding the horizontal rail which carries the strap hangers. Both had creaks and groans, where a bit of checking and tightening up would sort that. Apparently First would like more of these in a double decker variant, but Yutong currently does not offer a version.

The audio announcements is something I did forget to mention, as you say they are dreadfully quiet despite the bus been almost silence in sounding. I didn't know anything about double deck variants, I believe these Yutongs are a one off batch with the next electric order for Leeds been of a different make

Leeds had an all electric transport fleet over a hundred years ago. They were called trams.
@AndMoreCentral3 жыл бұрын
Aye it was a shame to get rid of them however at the time they were very impractical

So did Bradford and Bradford had the last operating trolley buses.

Why is Glasgow not getting these new electric youton buses
@ireallylovescrgirl81033 жыл бұрын
Ngl usually if a bus has terrible seats like that the seats at back will be the comfiest however they even got those plastic seats at the back.
@AndMoreCentral3 жыл бұрын
Aye sadly they had to use these seats in order to get the buses out quickly

We've got Yutongs in Leicester with much nicer seats. They're really nice to travel on
@SteveRiceDJPUD4 жыл бұрын
Agreed they look great and pandemic or not PASSENGER COMFORT SURELY NO1 PRIORITY so wait till proper seats instead of half glass full... Major flaw and so it right or DONT DO IT
@AndMoreCentral4 жыл бұрын
Aye I do have to agree with you there although for the purpose of this short hop bus route they aren't noticed too much really. Hopefully the next electric bus order will have the LeedsCity standard seats on them

Diesel electrics like the the new Route Master for London? Isn't Leeds in local lockdown? So no-one using them!
@AndMoreCentral4 жыл бұрын
These buses are fully electrics unlike the NBfLs in London that are hybrid. At current yes passengers numbers are lower but once normality returns these buses are going to still have capacity issues on this service as they are very small for how busy it is!
