I know this video is over a year old, but I still love the style and look of your setup, here. I have watched the latest one, but I still like this minimalist style. I just bought the wood to make my new desk. I also just bought the MX Keys and the MX Master 3S. Before that, I upgraded my monitor (from dual 24" to a single curved ultrawide 32"). I have the monitor mounted on the wall, but I still need to run the cables in the wall. I'll wait on that until I get the new desk built since it will be out of the way and I can get to that wall much easier. I'm also mounting my USB hub and a couple other things to the underside of the desk, similar to what you did. The desk I'm building will have cable management built into it, too. I hate seeing cables, so I made sure to add that to the design.

I did a desk build recently with a walnut veneered plywood and used the same Arm R Seal Satin. Turned out great! But I didn't realize until after I started that it takes about 24 hours to dry, but the final coat takes 30 DAYS to fully cure. As long as you're not putting anything heavy on the top, it's fine, but it can deform the finish if it's too heavy.

How do you like your chair? I heard mixed feeling on plastic feel. I love the design also need one that doesn’t numb my leg from back surgery
@LeeLechner2 жыл бұрын
I personally still really like it. I'm not someone that knows a ton about what makes a desk chair perfect though, so I'm sure there are other great options out there as well. My only complaint has been that where you rest your arms, they aren't locked in place. I believe it's like that because your arms are constantly moving around. But it would be nice if the chair has a feature to lock them

Your best bet may be to either check to see if you have any local lumber suppliers or check eBay. I think big chains also have options, like Home Depot, but they are way too pricy in my opinion

@LeeLechner3 жыл бұрын
Nope! A lot of people were concerned about that, but I never noticed any issues. But, with that said, I ended up converting it to a standing desk that has a support bracket to help prevent it. So, not sure if there would have been any long term issues with it

Sorry for the delay. This top was 25" (Home depot's website shows: Dimensions: 8 ft. 2 in. L x 2 ft. 1 in. D x 1.5 in.) ... For already sealed, you can either go with Ikea's Karlby tops or Home Depot has the Husky tops, which I think are already sealed. Not 100% sure though: www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-72-in-Solid-Wood-Work-Surface-for-Ready-to-Assemble-6-ft-Adjustable-Height-Workbench-G7200AS-US/206497844#product-overview

I recently made a very similar setup. Not quite as refined as yours though. Home Depot was sold out of the butcher block in my area, so I ended up having to go with a 8 foot walnut karlby. I was able to put it on Motorized sit stand legs.
