Except that it LITERALLY dropped straight down from a clearly visible cloud. The term "came out of nowhere" applies more when magic invisible men supposedly conjure things out of nothing.

That's crazy!!! Without the camera footage you'd wonder how the hell a tornado shredded a boat dock while leaving the trees 100 feet away untouched. Even WITH the footage, it's hard to believe!

Often when it is a small tornado it isn't the winds that do the damage. Its' the extreme low pressure at the center of the cyclone. The boats get sucked up.....not thrown.

It didn't do that much damage to the dock really. It tore up the soft coverings on the boats but that's it.

My dad's boat got destroyed when this happened. I'm not sure if his is one on those in the video, though. Edit: His boat is the one all the way to the left of the screen with the green tarp. The tornado goes right over it and it tore the tarp off and is left drifting away after the tornado goes off screen. It didn't sink, but it did get damaged. Still waiting on the insurance company to decide whether to fix or total it.

the second we see the dust and water being kicked up in the video is the second the tornado is on the ground. but either way all tornadoes are technically “invisible”, because they’re just wind, but we can see them because of water droplets, debris, and dust getting sucked into the vortex.

Tornadoes are invisible until they either suck up debris, dirt, water etc or condensation. They are just very tightly and rapidly spinning wind wind itself has no color and is invisible

that's kinda how tornadoes work, it's sorta like a line of small vortexes that slowly come in at a curve and eventually twist into the actual tornado, usually they're almost completely invisible but sometimes you might catch a glimpse of them

It's a little scary, I would normally assume you can tell it might be tornado weather when there is a very violent and windy thunderstorm but in this scenery everything looked peaceful and just a bit breezy when it formed out of nowhere.

That's surprisingly common. I've seen a few videos (mostly doorbell cams) where the sun is actually shining, you can kind of see a light mist but no big storm, then bam. Tornado goes right through. Hot days are like a quality steak to a storm system, too. It destabilizes the atmosphere and supplies energy for a tornado. So even though there's a dark, scary looking parent storm, the day often starts out beautiful! That freaks me out a bit lol

@Isreal_666 sad but true. It's also moving east (some sat 4-500 miles in the last 40 years)every year so places that aren't used to frequent tornado activity will be more impacted. Whether that's due to climate change or just a natural progression, I don't know, I haven't done enough looking into it to say, but either way, things are changing.

FYI a tornado over water is a waterspout. Even a wedge tornado. If it is over water, it's a waterspout. This was a tornadic waterspout while it was on the lake.

A waterspout is just a tornado on water. Typically, it is not as dangerous once it is over water and has a chance to suck up a lot of the water.

The path of least resistance was reached just on top of the asphalt, left of that one very large tree on the right seen having its branches sucked into the direct of the same low pressure spot where all the surrounding higher air-pressure is trying to fill in at the same time--with the path of least resistance being to simply rush in spinning and straight up into the sky to fill that huge rising vacuum caused by the uplift from the storm cloud.
