Very good and detailed explaination, and you do it with java, while nowadays mostly nowadays people do it with python. but language doesn't matter. understanding core intuition and idea behind it matters. One suggesstion. please turn on dark mode for leetcode. its hurts my eyes even I have turned on blue light filter, andits hard to watch for longer time. i usually watch Problem solving videos after work in evening/night.

Can we take the percentage of change instead of the diff between previous and the new pass ratio after adding one extra student?

Yes we can, but calculating the percentage change is time taking operation for every step.
