Lefkada is one of those magical places that once is not enough. You will want to visit it again and again. For example, I have visited it 11 times in the last 12 years….
Hundreds of people from all over the #world #visit #Lefkada every year by car or plane, as the #airport in Aktio is 20 minutes away from the island's capital.
Lefkada means a bright and luminous place. It is connected with the white soils of the island and the white-gold #beaches that when the waves stir the seabed, this special turquoise milky color is created, reminiscent of the attractive waters of a swimming pool!
In this video we will get to know the northwestern part of the island, facing towards the opposite Italian coasts of Otranto and Crotone.

One of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada and definitely the most lively and cheerful. The best dance songs of the summer in the most impressive beach bars.

It is located a few minutes south of the settlement of Agios Nikitas. The southern part of the beach is the quietest. Here you will find the Playboy rock in the shape of bunny ears.
The west orientation of the beach offers unforgettable intoxicating sunsets!
The next beach is hidden! It is called #Mylos and is one of the quietest and most isolated on the island. The reason for that is the access only through an uphill path or otherwise through regular itineraries from the small fishing port of Agios Nikitas. It was named after an old windmill that can be seen in the background.
An imposing landscape of wild beauty that gives a sense of grandeur to visitors.
You will not find any facilities on the beach, so you should have supplies and the appropriate equipment to protect yourself from the sun, since there is no natural shade on the shore.
If you decide to go on foot, you should start from the main pedestrian street in Agios Nikitas, and turn into the alley to the tavern Poseidon. Through a picturesque but tedious path, 650 meters (walking time 15-20 minutes), you will climb the hill that separates the two beaches. The view from above is breathtaking and rewards the effort.
Next stop is Agios Nikitas. It is probably the most picturesque fishing #village on the #island. A beautiful traditional settlement that will drive you crazy. The site has been inhabited since antiquity, as evidenced by the existence of some very old olive trees in the surrounding area and the fact that the fishermen of the village have repeatedly pulled from the seabed objects of archaeological interest, such as pottery, amphorae.
Here is the homonymous beach. Small but #cosmopolitan. Cafes, elegant shops and cocktail bars give the colorful rhythm from early in the morning until late at night!
Note that this exotic paradise of the Ionian Sea is geographically characterized by high seismicity.

Two of our great national poets were born in Lefkada, Aristotle Valaoritis and Angelos Sikelianos. Lefkada has a remarkable tourist infrastructure offering accommodation in hotels and rooms for rent and food in traditional taverns and restaurants.
The climate in Lefkada is Mediterranean. The weather on the island is usually mild with a lot of sunshine and a few clouds. In the hot summer, the winds that blow in Lefkada cool it, making the stay of the tourists pleasant.
