Skripal poisonings always get me. My mate Dawn was the lady who came into contact with the Novochok and died. Her ex fella Charlie is still traumatised. Her kids are still angry and utterly let down by the government.

The book you’re reading is basically fiction. Solzhenitsyn never did time in a real tough gulag, went to a comfy intellectuals camp. The story is also propaganda and pulls from fiction. Wild. Jeff State Prison looks like that too. It's in the middle of downtown Jefferson City in Missouri. And the whole thing is dug down in a hole, kind of, so the fence around it is about shoulder height at the top. Little kids go bicycling by. There's a bus stop by the wall. I just read it was decommissioned in 2004. But I had visited a couple of friends there, and it was eerie to drive up to it, because it looked so normal.

Especially these days the justice system is a joke. The government decided that arresting criminals is somehow bad and that there should be no consequences for their actions even for criminals that have been arrested dozens of times. As far as law abiding citizens are concerned though they can’t even defend themselves lest they be promptly arrested and prosecuted for “resisting assault” in NYC by some lunatic.
@Funko777
@Funko777 9 ай бұрын
Lol what? Spoken like some one who clearly has never been in a US prison. Ask around, the US has the most incarcerated citizens in the world, you just might talk to one like me. It's a revolving door because the system is literally set up to be one. Our prisons do not help integrate people back into society despite what lies they tell the public. You are marked for life regardless of what you did and often times the desperation of that situation causes people to return to prison or because the system was set up in such a way that causes that person to fail post release conditions. Russia sucks but not many countries have for-profit prisons like the US does where police and prisons are financially rewarded for imprisoning as many people as possible. People who place the blame on the prisoners themselves instead of the system that created and failed them are stupid and blind. Few citizens do belong to spend their life behind bars, but most do not and the exact opposite is true for those who wear police uniforms.
@90secondsuntilmidnight
@90secondsuntilmidnight 9 ай бұрын
@Funko777 I've known plenty of people who have been in prison. Some chose to turn their life around, and some who didn't. I've also worked in the records office in a prison and read post and pre sentence investigation reports, so yes, I do know. I took my nephew in after he was placed on parole for 90 days, and he took off with a great job making in excess of 100k a year. He chose to start doing drugs again after being clean for 8 years while in prison he "said" and 2 years after he got out. He is on his way back. Very few choose to turn their life around even if given the chance. You are right about them not having resources to turn to for housing, etc, but for those that do have resources from family, etc, and they still go back? Hmmmm

Another special prisoner in today's Lefortovo is infamous Igor Girkin (Strelkov) - the man who by his own admission triggered the war in Ukraine, the man found guilty by court in Netherlands of downing MH17 and murdering its crew and passengers. Of course he is there not because of his actual crimes but for speaking ill about the dictator Vladimir Putin. Lefortovo is an FSB prison and holds very different people. It is important to remember that people are tortured throughout Russian prison system, not just Lefortovo, however methods are rather different (don't google what they do in a regular Russian prison, it's all about riding a person of any dignity by all kinds of violence). Putin's regime uses all this to terrorize people into submission: for example many choose to die in trenches rather than end up in a prison like this, many today's convicts prefer a miniscule chance of surviving the war to staying in a prison - this is how Putin's army aquires new recruits

This is a full time job for him. He saw what other channels had many views then made channels and videos on exactly the same subjects. He is not the only one doing this. For example true crime channels just copy eachother and its like an echo chamber. Hard to find something that hasn't already been covered by ten other channels. I liked the old youtube more...

There are still good channels on YT, but those are buried under a lot of bad generic channels. Sure, those are harder to find than it was in the "old times", but then KZbin wasn't as known and was in itself harder to stumble upon.

Look at Russia's social history from the start. Russia has never been a different place culturally than it is today, brutal and abrupt and in-your-face, ruling with force and coercion. For a perfect example of the overall governing philosophy Russian rulers have always had in regards to the peasants by the gov't handling of vodka thru it's cultural history. And while the structure of the governing body my have changed, nothing about its' philosophy has. It's rulers are still brutal and abrupt and in-your-face, ruling with force and coercion.

i had to google why someone would have 9 youtube channels (i counted, and he has 9 listed youtube channels) apparently its great for an artist to diversify their portfolio. it helps you net more revenue as you attract vast amounts and different types of people. at first i felt weird about subscribing to 9 channels, but i guess it makes sense when i know why. 😅
