Left blasts Macron's call for broad coalition, demands keys to government • FRANCE 24 English

President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday put responsibility on parliament to negotiate a broad coalition reflecting France's "republican institutions" to break the stalemate following an inconclusive snap election. However, the left was "not happy at all with what President Macron had to say". The New Popular Front feels that President Macron is "basically making a non-democratic move" and is trying to "steal their victory". FRANCE 24 reporter Clovis Casali explains.

The New Popular Front is free to form a coalition to make a government. Just like any other party is free to do that. And isn't that what Macron is asking? Nobody has a majority so a coalition needs to be formed to do anything at all? Makes perfect sense to me.
