The corners of my practice swatches always seem to curl up in odd ways. I've tried using larger needles and less tension, but it still seems to happen. Any ideas why? Thanks!

That's normal for some stitch patterns! You'll notice some curl more than others. I usually block all of my finished projects and that really seems to help.
