I’m very happy you rescued your dog and love him very much. If you are taking him places, please please use a collar/harness and leash. When taking him potty, it takes one strange sound to spook him and he’s going to take off.

I fed my dog ham one Thanksgiving and we had to take him to the vet because to was pooping blood. Our vet told us that dogs eating ham at Thanksgiving has made he a very good livelihood over the years! So sure… feed them all the ham you want!

Yes. Ham is too fatty and some dogs Can get acute pancreatitis. That’s painful and deadly if not treated. Trust me; I’ve had it 3 times.

He is precious. You do know that eventually you will not be able to take him thrifting with you, right? I’m surprised that Goodwill hasn’t asked you to take him out. He’s not a service dog and, unfortunately, is not allowed in most stores. Get him a travel crate, though. You guys take long trips and you’re going to need it for his safety. Have fun with him.

The stores around here locally does not care . Lots of people brings there dogs in goodwill and Mini malls/Second hand stores, flea markets, etc..They don't have signs ..but Big stores like walmart and restaurants have signs stating service animals only . Other stores like Thrift stores and Family run business dont care don't mind at all ..

Unfortunately whenever you take your animal out or talk about things you feed him, everybody starts telling you what you should and shouldn't do. Lol I feed my dog table scraps and I don't put my dog on a harness or leash all the time. Calm down people. They have common sense. It's not that serious.

Fyi: the state of Kentucky and most towns in Virginia have laws requiring dogs be on leashes and wearing license and rabies tags when outside their yard. Be a responsible dog owner and leash/tag your pup even if you're carrying him.

Dogs are denning animals. You should consider a crate. When we went to work, they would go into their crates before we left. Usually dogs won't pee or poop in their cage. At night, they would sleep in it without being locked in. Just a suggestion.

I bought a less puffy dog bed to put in the carriage to teach them this is your spot. He then uses it in the car too. Asher is precious. I had a spaniel when I was a kid until my late teens he was the best. Your dog is giving me the warm fuzzy feelings remembering my chipper. ❤️ Ps a covered puppy stroller is good for incognito puppy so you guys aren't troubled by all the oohs and aahs...lol

My daughters service dog loves dog treats with blueberry or cranberry. Made some oatmeal,fruit bars with peanut butter the other day. He was so happy. Special meals with the family on holidays and his birthday so much fun. Maybe give Asher a run at puppy daycare. Petsmart has it. I used to go sit and watch the puppies play during my lunch hour when i worked. I loved it. Good for socialization too for the pups.
