Hello everyone. This is the former dance instructor who was in charge of this performance. As I have seen in now-deleted comments, there has been quite a bit of hate and I wanted to shed some light on our situation as there were many things that contributed to our performance preparations as well as our energy in this video. First, I'd like to address the events leading up to the performance. As you can see this is a Senior farewell rally and of the 9 performers, six (including myself and leadership) are seniors. This rally never had a finalized date so we got as much practice as we could however this was constrained. Over half of the performers are IB students and if you know IB, you may be aware that it's regarded as similar, if not higher, to honors or AP and that testing this year took place in May which also happened to overlap all of our practice time. As a result, we did not get to practice altogether until dress rehearsal as these were our finals. The day this video was recorded happened to be the last finals day for all seniors in our batch. Secondly, our club does not have access to our campus's dance room as the dance club/team was also preparing for this same rally and held priority. So, imagine, practicing these dances in the high 90s to 115-degree weather for two to three hours a day WITHOUT a mirror after 7-8 hours of testing/preparing for finals. Third, our gym's sound system is not reliable and for this rally, it was especially not ideal, while I will not share how this system was set up for this rally, I will say we did not have a computer or hard drive connected for output making it difficult for everyone to hear. In our Winter Rally performance, the music had cut out midway and we were forced to go off our counts up until a certain point, then it had done the same thing multiple times throughout this entire rally (and other performances) and was very difficult to hear. Also, the air conditioning was not on at this time of the rally and they kept the doors open at 101-degree weather with about 80% of our student population in that space (about 1200 students in total population). Now you may be wondering, why we even went through with this performance if we knew all of these were going to be a challenge. The answer is simply that we wanted to as a farewell to the creators of pop roCKs. Pop roCKs as of 2024 has only been active for two years as a club, but less than a year as performers. All of the club's leadership is self-taught and our main goal is to enjoy learning our favorite songs and have fun during our performances. Furthermore, everyone you see dancing here has not had much experience dancing in front of others or dancing in general so we have all been learning along the way. We post these videos to look back on our performances and to share with our family and friends and whoever wants to watch, not for others' validation. We are NOT a professional group and are literal students in high school who want to have fun while also having other, and more important priorities. I hope that you try to empathize with our situation and understand we did our very best with what we were able to do. That is all, thank you for reading.
