Rather, they play together and form friendships without any apparent racial/ethnic preferences. I grew up with and went to school with kids that were Jewish, Catholic, Methodist, Protestant, Baptist and Episcopalians. All it meant was that they went to a different church than I did. I can't remember a single time that I heard anyone saying that the people of this church or thzt was any less than another. I was invited to go to church with families who did not go to mine and what I remember most about them was the different types of service (I didn't know what came next or what I should do) and their decor. The Episcopalians had the most beautiful stained glass windows that I had ever seen. What happened to those days? If you don't care about your neighbors sex life then why do you care about where they worship? With all the evil out there, why does this matter? If they aren't trying to harm you or take something from you, then why do you hate them?

I was raised as a SDA, but I went to every vacation bible school that I could…every summer was the best. I belonged to three different youth groups: Methodist, Wesleyan and SDA. I lived next door to a Presbyterian church and would attend their Sunday school whenever I wanted to. My mom allowed all of this because she was just happy that I enjoyed going to church and spending time with my friends in a space that was safe and peaceful. Then at 14 I went to a SDA boarding school, by choice. My entire family went to camp meeting every year and attended all of the church meetings and activities. The best memories I have are of going to my church activities and hanging out with all of my friends and learning about their families and religions. My favorite VBS was the Menonite Bible school. I grew up in a small town in PA….population was 475 people. And we all knew one another. We had more churches in our town than we did anything else and no one ever had any arguments or upset from one church to another. I miss that country, I miss those values. I’m so glad to know that I’m not the only one. 😊❤

God doesn’t dwell in buildings made with hands, neither is He worshipped with men’s hands. He dwells In our heart. And He is served just by our faith Alone. That’s it. Just believe and be set free. @@janie3117 I was a child…and my point wasn’t about religion or church…it was about not seeing anyone as being undesirable just because they had a different belief system. It was also about my parents allowing me to explore different beliefs without prejudice. Now I’m 51 years old and I despise religion, as it’s very much a man made system that was designed to explain the unexplained and to have more control over the people. I don’t practice any religion.

@@Jaynes-Path my son wasn’t interested in any type of religion. My husband had pretty severe religious trauma and as I said above, I don’t like the idea of religion now that I’m older. So we taught our son about religions, mythologies and theological principles then allowed him to explore his belief system for himself. And because we didn’t see any one religion as the “correct” religion he also never experienced bigotry or prejudice from his Christian, Jewish or catholic friends….just as he didn’t have any prejudices against them. When he was in the military he did go to a couple different religious services just to see what they were like, as he’d never stepped foot into any church or place of worship up to that point in his life. But it’s like you said before, it’s about having faith and having a personal connection with the creator, not going to some building once a week for appearance sake or to make oneself feel better about yourself.
