But i need to be honest too... i know myself i would have played it for a bit and stopped and not touched it again without the "bad memories" ... maybe i wouldn't have the fun i have now in the game then ^^ So, on one hand, i am sad that i don't have all that what the legacy players enjoyed but on the other hand, i am happy that i have a great time in ff :D

I had a legacy character and saw these cutscenes with my paladin. I can tell you now that the feeling was surreal, but I'll echo the above statements. ARR as a skeleton...structurally...was better than 1.0. It wasn't until Stormblood that I started playing consistently. While I'm on the subject, 1.0 had some beautiful areas with amazing music. I hear some of the 1.0 soundtracks creep in occasionally in our current cutscenes.

Same, I have a legacy character with the tattoo. Except I don't have a legacy, because I didn't subscribe to the 1.0 version for 3 months (no discount sub), nor finish the MSQ, so I'm just a generic 2.0 character in the story. No amount of trying to contacting SE support over the last decade has ever changed any part of this.

@@weberman173 it was later explained in Endwalker that magic played a role in it almost like a lock but for words, even after it was unlocked people forget it's not like you spent much time outside the main and side characters they also retold your Job quests from 1.0 almost frame by frame so meeting some people got retconned especially back ground characters.

Probably for the same reason people hate Tataru. If they aren't running around slitting throats and killing gods, they're seen as dead weight. Even if they're the sole reason the Warrior of Light isn't a homeless person on the streets

@@tatersalad76 As some one who dislikes Minfilia, it's not that trust me. It's literally the same reason you love her. You had a lot more time with her. You saw her beginning. I didn't. I just saw an average character that was being portrayed as important, but I simply didn't get it. She isn't a BAD character, but without the same attachments you have to her, most people who never played 1.0 will feel differently about these characters. Just that simple. A lot of us aren't on a bandwagon or hating her because its fashionable. xD To me, she is just another unremarkable NPC. I didn't even feel sad about her death. :/ Took me a while to warm up to most of the scions that came from the previous version, to be honest.

@@tatersalad76 I like Tataru, even if she is 'useless'. She at LEAST has some personality about her, while Minfilia has about as much personality and character development as a piece of cardboard. Everything about her character design (save for her fan service outfit), her voice, and her lines just scream boring, compared to the other characters you see in game.

Gotta say I'm grateful I was too young to know about or pay for this or that game. Makes me feel less bad about having 'missed out on the chance' to have this myself so to speak. Cause even if I could go back in time or whatever, not like it'd make a difference lol. Thanks for the upload, I'm just glad to even get to see this, what a cool thing and great gift for people who played through and payed for a game in a horrific state. That a lot of people wish they could have or experience some/all legacy stuff is a testament.

Thanks for this, since starting this game I wondered if legacy players would get any kind of special treatment for continuing their story. It's great to see Square Enix taking care of their OG's, even if it's a few extra scenes and lines of dialogue.

I have 2 legacy characters but they were low levels, so I started a new one in ARR... found out years later, I could've experienced these cutscenes if I continued playing my older characters lmao

These cutscenes would only trigger if you had finished the 1.0 storyline. As someone who continued on a Legacy character, nothing was different compared to a brand new character.

@@suplexsuarez3384 It was in Heavensward that that they changed most of the voice actors from A Realm Reborn then used those new voice actors till to this day. So yeah, Heavensward is the start of the great voice acting. Although, I did preferred the original voice actor of Yugiri but sadly that voice actress had quite a tragic death.

Wait, what determines where legacy characters end up when they start Realm Reborn? I've been looking into different uploads that feature legacy specific cutscenes, but almost every video I've seen showcasing legacy cutscenes starts with the Legacy WoL entering Limsa Lominsa. Had it not been for _one_ video that shows the WoL ending up in Gridania, I would've thought that every 1.0 player just starts their Realm Reborn story from Limsa Lominsa by default.

Actually it's the same as creating a new character, you still get to choose what job to be when you first log in, and which you choose will become your starting city. I actually forgot and started as pugilist and ended up in Ul'dah, when my 1.0 char was originally from Gridania lol

im super curious when you start the game as a legacy char do you keep the gear on that you had when the server shut down and does it become lvl 1 gear? how did they do that?

You had the same gear and all your inventory you had when the servers shut down. You even kept all you Job levels. I bagann ARR as level 50 warrior. But you had to do all the questing. You could have had all jobs at level 50 and still had to get the level 1 quest at the guild to be able to unlock the Job change

gear wise you keep everything, even resources that are no longer in use, green and higher rarity armour and weapons are the same and simply altered to the stats used in ARR whilst grey and crafted armour and weapons are listed as "Dated " with no stats and simply kept for glamour purposes

Well, the legacy part of the storyline only last for a Real reborn part from what I understand it as to tie in them on the first FFXIV and ARR thus from heavenward and forward all gets the same thing right? I know you wear what ever gear you have on when replaying the cutscenes so I assume even legacy arrive only in starter gear thou as it would kind of break the game for them otherwise arrive in their old pregame gear.....but I'm kind of curious if the game lorewise says anything what happened to the character gear between FFXIV ending and arriving at their starting village since I assume its meant to be instant teleportation from the players point of view. :)

The lore said you were sent to the future by Louiseux. When ARR startet you had the same gear that you wore at the end of 1.x The special CS ended at 2.0

I read that you needed to be subscribed to 1.0 for like 90 days I think to qualify. I remember people didn't finish the MSQ, but got legacy cause they forgot to cancel their subscription.

Only ARR. Which makes sense considering how linked with 1.0 it is. From HW on it's the same for everyone. I remember Cid suddenly calling me Old Friend in HW and was very confused as to why until I realized the difference in ARR cutscenes.

That's expansion pack territory. the original game was built on Square's super failed Crystal Tools game engine and was vastly different than what we have now. The world map designs were awful, confusing, somehow being simultaneously cluttered and barren, and, more importantly, canonically vastly different. Coerthas for example, was lush green (wide open and mostly featureless) area, and was only turned into the frozen snow lands that we know in ARR because of the calamity. Not to mention all the areas with the corrupted crystals and fragments of Dalamund that fell from Bahamut's destruction jutting out everywhere. The point being, they can't just reuse the assets they made for ARR, they'd have to remake a lot if not all of the zones to resemble what they looked like before the calamity happened. Now that the main story has wrapped up, it's not impossible that they consider doing a "Prequal" expansion, but It seems like they're focusing on the future of the world before looking into the past. I do hope that at some point they would do it, because it would be kinda cool. maybe as the final expansion they release for the game, kinda like a final look back at how it all started.

They didn‘t explain that at the time. They kind of explained it in Endwalker, but I think it was more a gane machanic to give old and new players the same story.

I am truly confused as to why they have gone to trouble themselves with making 2 versions, this one is the "story accurate" one, isn't it. The opening cinematic makes no sense otherwise. Why not just give everyone this version?

Imagine if you'd never heard of 1.0, and you were jumping into FFXIV completely blind because a friend recommended it or something. The Teleporting in and all the mentions of you being someone that people are supposed to know but they don't, and Cid's callback to Riven Road, would all be completely nonsensical. So, there are two different "canons." If you are a 1.0 player, it's canon that your character survived the Calamity and returned five years later. If you didn't start until after ARR, it's canon that your character is entirely unrelated to the previous Warriors of Light, and you're making a new legacy of your own. Neither version is "more" canon than the other, unless you want to get a stick up your ass about how the WoL in the Trailers is a Meteor Survivor (but the trailers contain so much other non-canon stuff, that argument doesn't make sense to begin with).

@@KitsuneMiyazaki There is nothing that says a 2.0+ character isn't one of the WoL, it's just unlike legacy characters, the game doesn't make it obvious because, like you said, new players would be confused as to what their character did before they started up the game. If someone knows the story that led up to the calamity, they are 100% in the right to decide "my character went through this" if they so wanted to

@@MagicKnightR The Endwalker story explains what makes the Warrior of Light the Warrior of Light. If you were a 1.0 player, you got Azem's soul shard early. If you came aboard later, you got Azem's soul shard later.
