Ironically, I like the mold better on Shadow Striker. (Probably just because I like the character more) Either way, I love this mold and will definitely pick up another version of it. (If my budget allows for it.)

Robots in Disguise and Car Robots are in 2 separate universes, to me. In the RID universe, we have Sideburn, Prowl, X-Brawn, Optimus Prime. In the Car Robots universe we have, Wild Ride, Fire Convoy, etc, etc. Personally, I prefer the RID-universe names.

I think what they could've done is connected that back piece to the hood and have it fold under it when it's a shield. That ways there won't be too much extra pieces.

The car mode being wrong is because Hasbro literally got sued when they imported his original toy due to not actually owning the license to create a toy of that vehicle. They don't want to risk a repeat of that.

It's not hard to do an off brand viper-esque mode, really they just split the difference between the two uses by giving it the Sideburn body plan but Shadow Striker's alt mode

I'm in the same position of really not loving his alt mode, but the robot mode looks good. Comparing the two robot modes gives me "toy vs how they look in the Marvel comic" vibes even though he obviously was never in the Marvel comic (Legacy bot mode just puts me in mind of Andrew Wildman art for some reason). I still have my original from '01 so if I pick Legacy up I'll display both in their respective superior modes. The original is a hassel to transform so I'm good just leaving him in alt mode forever.

the issue you have with the bumper try plugging the roof into the other arm and you should get a better connection

Have you tried to attach the partsforming bumper upside down or does it not plug-in in that orientation? I totally agree with your assessment of the Alt-mode. The Viper vehicle looks way better than their "Seibertronian" take of the vehicle. Stay safe and God bless. Yosh...

Still seems like a major missed opportunity not to be able to plug the bumper into the shoulder, as well as having a rounder bumper for the whole crossbow look [plus make the back section look a bit more complete]

I hate the carmode so much. It was terrible on Shadowstriker, and its even worse on Sideburn cuz he really deserved a more Dodge Viper-esque car; basically what SS86 Jazz has, being so close to a Porsche, but enough not like it to not get in any trouble. But, despite my hatred for the car, I really like the botmode! It looked bad on Shadowstriker, but here on Sideburn, who its meant for, it looks great! I think I want him. Also, I'd really like a new Prowl and X-Brawn. And, _eventually,_ probably in couple years at the very least, a new Commander Class Optimus Prime.

Hasbro thinks fans will buy anything. If we won't tolerate substandard products they go broke. Half-assed attempts like this are why I cut WAY back on giving large companies money and collecting in general. If you like this--cool, enjoy, but wow I'm so unimpressed. Great review style. I do rewatch RID 2001 occasionally so it's nice to see products from it, but that's a HasNo for me. Cheers, emgo!
