My dream came true. I have not been this excited for a game in like 15 years.

We have been hoping, praying, and petitioning for the return of this series for the last 15 or so years. I am so happy and excited to see it make its return with a full trailer at Sony's State of Play. I've already preordered it and now all I can do is wait to play it. They've announced some of the changes already at blog.playstation.com/2024/09/24/legacy-of-kain-soul-reaver-1-2-remastered-launches-on-ps5-ps4-dec-10/ I'm going to cover that in a little bit.

They should have remastered all three I would have gladly paid more I agree I've been saying this I played every single blood Omen every single soul reaver it's not going to make any sense for newcomers but anyways I'm still excited

Yeah, I agree. Though its not as bad in this series as it would be for another. I came into the series with the SR1 demo but the first game I owned and beat was SR2. From there I went backwards into the series with SR1 then BO1 and my enjoyment of the series wasn't diminished at all. As a matter of fact, coming into past games with future knowledge did elevate them in some strange way. Playing through the series out of order isn't ideal but it does work for the series instead of hinder it.

@@BelartWright never thought of it like that thanks for telling me your insight

The Soul Reaver games are Raziel's perspective and he was not around for Blood Omen, making it almost irrelevant to his story. Whatever information you require of Blood Omen is presented within Raziel's quest. Defiance takes place at the same time as Blood Omen, so it's useful to have played it by that point in the series. It's still not essential due to time travel and retcons making changes to the narrative.

Oh hell yeah, but I'd want a remake of that one. Gameplay was pretty jank.

the story telling is the best ever but.... the gameplay is HORRIBLE!!!!! Not redoing the battle system and the gameplay is a horrible mistake. I sure won't be playing it.... again.

Well, its just a remaster so there's only so much they can do with the battle system. We'll have to wait for a remake to see significant changes. Which battle system are you mentioning, SR1 or SR2? I found both combat systems to be enjoyable and competent overall but very flawed. I really enjoyed the tactical nature of SR1's combat systems because you're essentially fighting immortal beings so you can't easily kill them though I think this gets annoying as you progress through the game and get more powerful. There's certain shortcuts to lessen the annoyance such as glyphs, telekinesis and the fire reaver but Raz still feels a little weak sometimes. In SR2 I love how tactical the weapon scavenging system is when facing human enemies even though for me it always devolves into finding the halberd and going to town on vampire hunters. I think the SR2 battle system has a lot of potential but it never came close to using its maximum. Even 15 years ago, I was thinking of ways to improve it. Once you start fighting the demons or the last set of "bosses" the flaws in the combat system become apparent and you settle for spamming, fully-ar**sed reaver, or hit and run tactics.
