When discussing the families and baales (chiefs) who have governed the ancient town of Ibadan, the Olugbode family stands out as one of the most recognized, primarily due to the palace built in 1835 by Baale Ajayi Oyesile Olugbode.
The palace, known as Aafin Olugbode, was constructed over 200 years ago at Ita Baale Olugbode. The name Olugbode is derived from Oluwatigbode. The palace still stands strong today and can confidently claim that no modern building matches its quality.
