3:29 For context, Diablo I story was exactly: A stupid motherfucker going on a hike carrying a soulstone with a greater evil. The Reverbed acoustic guitar chord strum is also the primary and most characteristic thing in Diablo I OST, this is literally saying "Shit went full circle", brilliantly done from the composer here

Tal Rasha was the first with Baal, centuries ago, then Aiden with Diablo and now Neyrelle with Mephisto

I thought the same thing, such a forboding setting. Couldnt help but obsess over the parallels between the way neyrelle looked and the wanderer. 1 small thing though, Diablo 1 was Aiden trying to cleanse old tristram. Diablo 2 was the wanderer going on a stroll with Diablo.

How this track doesn't have at least half a million views by now is just unbelievable... This and Daughter of Hatred are both my absolute favorites. Incredible, heartbreaking masterpieces that alone deserve music awards.

Depends what she does with it. The Soulstone/Worldstone was used to suppress the powers of humanity. I wonder if Neyrelle plans to use it to accelerate humanity's return to Nephalems.

@@VDA19 perhaps she will find zoltun kulls notes for the black soulstone or zoltun kulle himself on her journey? the black soulstone is able to imprison angels and demons and he believed that he could use the stone to unlock humanity's nephalem birthright.maybe there is more than one stone or fragments of it after the fight with malthael..who knows ^^ kulle used also the demon power like lilith offered it to the hero too

I think she is focused on Fighting Mephisto and his brothers. The Soulstone will be a weapon against Baal and Diablo

I think she is overcome with hatred from the moment we killed her mother. She even says so; "I'm trying not to hate you, I really do". Her intensions may be just, but her emotions will lead her astray, especially with the Lord of Hatred following in her shadow. I'd like to believe her journey will be that of a hero, but I'm fearing it will be one in the tragic sense. Her mother pursuing Horaderic knowledge all her life. Dragging her around the world. There is mention of neglect to her as a child. We killing what stability she had in the world. Picking up the soulstone, the epitome of Horaderic knowledge, is like picking up a physical manifestation of trauma. Ofcourse you want to control it, smash it to bits ... as does Mephisto.

Nothing in the game hit me as hard as the pain in Lorath's eyes after reading the letter. Poor man can't catch a break.

I didn't really think much of Lorath in D3, but then they fleshed out this character in D4 and he's now one of my fav video game characters. Seeing the pain in his eyes throughout the game as things went from bad to worse hurt.

@@l3ete1geuse I'm just so mad that they made some of his actions feel as that of an idiot. The way he gave up his afterlife to hang from the tree for all eternity was so fucking stupid when he had the eye. But let's say that the eye would have been dangerous, there was also the fact that the Knights Penitent were marching to Caldeum and everyone knew lmao

@@Moo.1336 You're observing things from an outside meta perspective. Treat each individual character as having their own mind and limited knowledge on what's happening around them. Lorath had already had one bad dealing with the eye when it allowed Andariel to be summoned, so he wasn't gonna do that again. And he didn't know about the Knights Penitent being in Caldeum until after he had already struck the deal with The Tree of Whispers, so that point is moot as well. His character acted with the knowledge available, and was willing to sacrifice everything to defeat Lilith. It's brilliant story telling IMO.

@@l3ete1geuse I mean, I did. That's the problem. Lorath would have never been so stupid to do something like that. He knew of the tree's existence for a whole 3 minutes before sacrificing himself like that? When he doesn't even trust the church or swear any sort of fealty to them? He could have done literally anything else. I wasn't stating that he knew about the Knights marching to Caldeum. I'm saying that the party found out like a few hours later by word of mouth... Regardless, the wanderer also had Mephisto to tell them as he somehow knew everything and of Lilith's whereabouts even before this point. Haha

@@Moo.1336 No, I don't think you did. You again proved you aren't seeing things through the perspective of the characters in the game and instead making judgements as a meta observer by saying that only "hours" had passed from the time that Lortha made the pact with The Tree of Whispers to when he found out about the Knights Penitent invaded Caldeum. It was not just a few hours. It was likely days, or maybe even weeks. The area that D4 takes place in is the upper half of the eastern continent. This is not a small area and they have few abilities to communicate or traverse vast distances in short periods of time. We see the world as small because again, it's a game, and the actually size of this place does not translate well to game play. You just have to pause and think for a moment.

They nailed the bleak tone of the whole game. Everything from the story down to Sanctuary itself was just "bleak", and even the music never relented on that tone. But this ending theme is great because it's the one track that actually has "hope" in it too; a small, struggling nugget of hope in the sea of bleakness.

From the beginning intro in the Mountains, Lorath told you this was a story about Humanitys greatest mistake. The story in the game already happened, we played through Loraths retelling of events

Mephisto manipulated the whole world, the world started to hate each other, they were blind by their hatred, not just inarius and lilith but the whole humanity and even the main character. The only being who managed to know what's going on, is a young girl but it was too late. Mephisto is probably laughing about the fact that the ONLY obstacle for him and the only hope for humanity was this young girl, and he is corrupting her right now.
