@jeffburnham66113 жыл бұрын
Maybe not 1960's but likely early 1970's. The Beatles had their most success after 1964, which is when this movie supposedly takes place. The British Invasion had just started in the US in 1964. During one scene when they are being interviewed by Clint Howard, "Jimmy" said his influences were Dion and the Belmonts, which sort of fits the right time frame of many of the Wonders songs as being sometime around the late 1950's to early 1960's.

@@jeffburnham6611 I would say it does have a ‘64 vibe. The Beatles became very popular here in the states in 1964 and immediately inspired scores of imitators, of which the Wonders would’ve just been one. The early 70s sound had a lot more polish and production to it compared to the beat rock sound of the early 60s which this song is inspired by.

I'm literally just back from holiday. I watched this film in my room,didn't even know it existed, and genuinely thought this was a film about a band back in the day. I gotta say,this song is brilliant . 👏 👌

I was walking by Wendy's the other day and heard this being played on their outside speaker. That moment brought me back here.♪

The first time I heard this on the radio I really thought it was the Beatles singing.

It sounds to me like the kind of song John would have sung. Melancholy, very much a "No Reply" or "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party" vibe.

[Verse 1] You Doing that thing you do Breaking my heart into a million pieces Like you always do And you Don't mean to be cruel You never even knew about the heartache I've been going through [Chorus] Well, I try and try to forget you, girl But it's just so hard to do Every time you do that thing you do I know all the games you play And I'm gonna find a way to let you know that You'll be mine someday [Verse 2] 'Cause we Could be happy, can't you see? If you'd only let me be the one to hold you And keep you here with me [Chprus] 'Cause I try and try to forget you, girl But it's just so hard to do Every time you do that thing you do [Bridge] I don't ask a lot, girl (I don't ask a lot, girl) But I know one thing's for sure (know one thing's for sure) It's the love I haven't got, girl And I just can't take it anymore [Guitar solo] [Verse 2] 'Cause we Could be happy, can't you see? If you'd only let me be the one to hold you And keep you here with me 'Cause it hurts me so just to see you go Around with someone new [Outro] And if I know you, you're doing that thing Every day just doing that thing I can't take you doing that thing you do
