I just pruned my magnolia tree, being upset that it didn't produce enough flowers... I never knew that it was medicinal!🤯 Thank God, the branches are still by the tree, I am going to collect a ton of bark tomorrow!😂 ❤Thank you very much for your information!❤ I've been paying big bucks for valerian root to make calming tinctures to lower my blood pressure & anxiety. I am switching to magnolia, oh yeah!🎉

Big leaf magnolia is my favorite and the umbrella magnolia comes in a close second. I used to have an old patch of umbrella magnolias that grew next to a stream on my property that I would sit under for hours. You can’t beat a big leaf magnolia when it’s in flower too.

It's amazing that I've never heard of this before. I've researched herbs for a long time and magnolia was never mentioned once. I knew I had a very large 30+ foot fraser magnolia or the cucumber tree on my property. I've also been able to identify the sweetbay and collected the flower buds. Now is the perfect time to find this video. I've had a tone of joint pain neck and back for years and felt it is digestive related. Thanks for your work to bring this information back to light. @@LegacyWildernessAcademy I'll update with the progress while taking the herb. Only been a few days but I've seen some pretty interesting results. @LegacyWildernessAcademy
@LegacyWildernessAcademy 6 ай бұрын
@@paulofthewoods0787 I should mention that if you feel it's digestive related you should also look into yucca root and greenbriar/smilax root. Both are used for joint pain, but they work differently than magnolia. They have saponins that bind to toxins in the gut and prevent them from being absorbed, reducing the toxin load on the body and helping with inflammation. Make a combo tincture with all 3 and I bet it would work wonders.

@@LegacyWildernessAcademy very cool. I do sometimes eat greenbrier and every once in a while I'll get an allergic reaction similar to shrimp which I'm also allergic too. Same with lambs quarter. Squirt the tincture into a shot glass of boiling hot water. It does something to the alcohol to make it less problematic. After a minute or two toss it into your glass of water to drink

I'm happy to find your channel, especially since you're covering plants in the southeast! I have a question.. when you're making the strips, do you try to focus on the green cambium layer or does it not really matter? TY

In this case the outer bark is so thin that it doesn't really matter, but on plants with thicker bark i'd scrape it off first.

I had a sweet bay and the leaves had severe Gaul on the leaves. I would take the good leaves and dry them and use them in a pot of red beans and gumbo. Lost the tree due to the severe drought we had last summer.

You must be referring to the true wild bay trees. Those have really bad galls on the leaves. The leaves look very similar to sweet bay magnolia. Despite its name, sweet bay leaves are more bitter. True bay from the genus Persea is what you must have been using. Thanks for watching!

You're earning that tattoo brother! Would you mind telling us what location in the southeast you're in? Looks like east-central Mississippi, central-ish Alabama? Just wondering how close I am!

Using the everclear I don't have to delete it after it's done? Also how would this do as a oil infusion for salve. Thanks for the info, I have these trees on my property.
