Les is a wise ole bird, wish all walk arounds were this educational. Lots of neat little improvisations, gives us a lot to think about.

Thank you for showing us the construction details on your Legal-Eagle. Especially in the cable and pulley installation. Your attention to making your aircraft lighter in weight is very important too.

Simply the best video I've seen of this amazing plane yet! Thank you so much for going over all of the details as well, it was a great lesson on how to do it right 👍

One of the Reasons the Legal Eagle XL or UL are so popular is because it flys just like, but slower, than a lot of the aircraft flow by pilots that have either lost medicals or have decided to spend a lot less flying and just enjoy flying to the max.

do not go by prop size, pitch diameter. every manufacturer is different and if you order the same size prop from a different manufacturer it will not preform anywhere like what you expect. Best thing to do is to talk to the manufacturer and tell him what you have, horsepower and what you are trying to achieve and get what he recommends. The prop i am using is from Frank Johnson at performance propeller. I have a tennessee prop that is about as good but it is 6" larger in diameter and the pitch is 4" difference.

I just spoke with Scott today, in regards to that engine. Living at 7000' that is what he suggested. The price tag might set my build back a bit.

Les, the plans call for mostly 5/8” x .035” tubing. Have you considered possibly 5/8” x .028”? By the way, phenomenal tutorial of the Legal Eagle XL.

Hi Les. I love your videos on the Legal Eagle. Great workmanship! Sorry if you answered this in later videos, but what was the reason you switched from the the 1/2 VW to the 3 cylinder Verner 3V? Is it more power than the VW? Do you find that the plane needs more power than the 1/2 VW provides? Thanks!

When you say that you fly cross country with this plane, what exactly do you mean? Do you travel from airport to airport?
@LesHomanLegalEagleXL6 жыл бұрын
When I talk about flying cross country it is airport or landing strip to landing strip. with the Legal Eagle and only 5 gallons of fuel generally 60 to 70 miles i need to be on ground for more fuel, depending on winds, min. distance was 30 miles and max. distance was 120 miles. land, fill up with fuel and head for next airport.
