No, Toval calls in the last Intermission before the CSIV finale, about a path that reopened behind Ordis-If you finished every single Sidequest in CSIV, you can fight the Holy Beast with the Lost Name before you go to the final dungeon. But you can’t actually use that Aidios’ cage until you obtain the Primordial Flame from McBurn. If you obtained it that way, the only difference between the bad and good ending is that Alisa’s Dad temporarily takes back control and points out that he shouldn’t give up because all of his training to become Yun-Ka-Fai successor was for that specific moment. So that he could find a way to live rather than just default into accepting his own death as inevitable.

Good to be on with the boys. Bracing for impact. Apologies to all for stealing the floor for a bit on a level even Riku would envy. Ps. Wish I got to chat with Recon more. Looking to hear from him more in the future. He's very well spoken and clearly gives thought to what he says!

I just finished Reverie yesterday funny enough and now I see this! I LOVED Reverie, very compact, not too short not too long, very amazing story plot twists, very well made improved animations what makes every scene after a fight much more impectful, the music, the story, the gameplay... It felt all amazing! Together with Azure and Sky SC this is by far one of my favorites and in the top 3 together with Azure and Sky SC!

Shadow and everyone involved in Reverie Spoilercast. I want to say I really enjoy the discussion. Wished you guys could of gone extra hour or two but I know time is limited. OK Spoilers: So glad that King Recon brought up subject about everybody thoughts on the GM appearing on game cover but having so little screen time. Im wondering if guys have had chance to read Toshihiro Kondo interview from Reverie artbook? If not this was brought up: ----Ouroboros, the Society, is an important key-player in the Kiseki series as a whole, but they didn’t really show up in Trails into Reverie. Reverie’s key visual prominently shows the Grandmaster, Ouroboros’s leader, because initially were planning to give her proper screen time. However, as we started to flesh out the story, we had to step back from our initial plans regarding for the Grandmaster and ended up limiting her screen time to the Episode “後ろの正面だあれ”. This is something we also regretted, so in response our resolve strengthened to include tie-ins to the next game and we turned to the development of Beyond the Reverie [a big update released one month after the game’s release].---- gu4n.medium.com/interview-with-kondo-toshihiro-hajimaris-truths-and-foreshadowing-for-kuro-no-kiseki-204819c8bfff Also Tarks mention about Nayuta: Boundless Trails main heroine looking very similar to the GM. That too was touch upon. ----Speaking of Nayuta, there’s this firmly-rooted theory that Creha is the Grandmaster, so is the tale of Remnant Island tied to the Kiseki main series? Whether Nayuta: Boundless Trails and the main series are connected remains still unclear. Although it carries ‘Kiseki’ in its title, you normally wouldn’t think of it as a related game. It also doesn’t mean we’re releasing Nayuta: Boundless Trails, in which Creha appears, now the Grandmaster appeared in the main series. Nayuta was originally released in 2012, a period of shifting from PSP to PS Vita. In 2013 we released Trails of Cold Steel for PS3 and Vita, an entry point for many into the series. These players didn’t have a chance to try Nayuta, which is why we’ll be releasing the Kai version now. Also, there’s also a vocal group of fans outside Japan who really want to play Nayuta.---- Final note here is a interesting theory about if Nayuta is connected to main trails series: kisekicrack.esterior.net/2020/09/23/to-the-ends-of-the-earth/ I know Riku and Tarks have finished Boundless Trails. My bad I forgot if King Recon has played it yet. And Shadow you mention you might played it. You should definitely read that article. It does spoil some of Nayuta storyline but may motivate you to play the game. Especially whats going on Kai No Kiseki -Farewell, O Zemuria info wise since Dec 2023. Heres teaser from the article: 4. Towa Herschel’s S-Craft in Sen no Kiseki 2 recalls the seasonal magic of Nayuta.

Cool thing about the bad ending of cs4, if you didn't do the secret quest you actually get a scene where a portal shows up to teleport you back in time to do the secret quest with a woman's voice being heard. In the files that voiceline is right next to the GM's voicelines. My running theory is that the GM has been doing Kea rewinds for a long time now for the whole kiseki series and maybe prior too for god knows how many cycles. This is kinda foreshadowed by 51 Cyprus trees book from Sky.

The Divine Knight idea of them being able to give life had to have been thought of since CSI, because Rean already had that scar on his chest which means Osborne couldn’t have a heart from the very beginning. When you think about it like that, the curse keeping people alive is to be expected- but those who had a legitimate death should have expired afterwards. I agree that Rean probably couldn’t die, otherwise the series could never have its grand finale-it is “Legend of Heroes” and not “Legend of the Hero.” That being said, there’s no excuse for reviving Crow, but I never bought into Millium being dead since she was artificially created from the start. Crow should’ve stayed dead, and even if he didn’t, the guy is like the ultimate fucking terrorist-he should be in jail by Reverie, in the best case scenario.
@kevinlabelle42295 ай бұрын
Also, the reason they missed out in 2008, is because they were going straight from Liberl to Erebonia, and then realized Crossbell was an integral part of their story development that could not be treated like North Ameria, considering its very much economic center of Zemuria.

About cs4, Tarks really nailed it .
@MrDiomedes19776 ай бұрын
When I got bad (normal) ending and Rean was dead along Crow, it was a very sad ending....really impactful , but sad...many years playing as him. I understand that having that tragic moment would have had the timeline as something tragic and Rean as a legendary (dead) hero. But, I am very happy he survived, and I think the tears and deaths will eventually come when Trails enters its final stages.
@thephantomkiller87926 ай бұрын
100% disagree with everything Tarks said about how Rean should be dead Rean's character was to stop sacrificing himself and having him DO IT again would not only be pointless after 4 games but would also be a a bad lesson to send to all the other characters plus it would take away a character I really enjoyed which I'm sure would make Tarks happy which again HELL NO!
@TarksGauntlet6 ай бұрын
I like Rean. I won't be happy for him to be gone. But I also disagree it takes away the lessons he and his class learned. If anything it adds a tragic level of realism and nuance to it. Some things are inevitable. Sometimes that could be a call for sacrifice. Rean could learn to live for himself and still have to face the cold, hard, inevitable truth and consequences of reality. Making the plot bend over backwards to avoid said reality felt pretty lame to me.
@SUPERVEGETTO926 ай бұрын
@TarksGauntlet But it doesnt bend over backwards, if they really wanted to, they could have written a way to save even the Ishmelga Rean's life, or they could have the bad ending be not canon and have no relevance to Reverie. Reverie shows that he both did and didnt sacrifice himself in different timelines, and why the latter was the good decision.
@TarksGauntlet6 ай бұрын
@@SUPERVEGETTO92 Im gonna say we have different definitions of what "Bending over backwards" really means. Reverie was a good way to fix the end of CSIV (with some issues of its own) but to me, it was indeed, fixing the mistake as best they could. I don't expect everybody to agree of course. I know many don't. But hopefully 3 hours of discussion on this podcast was enough I don't need to discuss it more lol.

Trails into Reverie: The main antagonist and one of the biggest themes of the entire saga is written to literally show how sacrifice ISNT necessary and it can even lead to negative outcomes. Tarks: No, Falcom is just damage controlling. This is why media discussion is frustating in the internet, people have gotten in their heads that "objectively good writing" is the most important thing a story needs, that when a story tries to say something but they decide to break "the rules" its seen as inherently dishonest and not having genuine love behind it. Even when the story clearly hammers the point multiple times people hide behind things like "emotional stakes" or "tension" to bash it. Trails has already killed important characters permanently by the time you reach the end of Cold Steel 4, do you need REALLY a series to have ALL characters stay permanently dead? When one is arguably more than enough to fulfill a story having the huge emotional moment? Also, side note, please stop dragging Dragon Ball into this, not a single one of you get that Dragon Ball's handling of tension and bringing back characters has its own set of written rules and worldbuilding tied to it. And Akira Toriyama wrote his characters motivations and story arcs around those so that each arc has its own kind of tension even with the plot device that can bring back characters.
@hollowman71685 ай бұрын
Yeah, Terks got a bit of the youtube brain rot. I'm not sure he knows wat damage control means lol
@chrisweech58576 ай бұрын
I’m with Tarks on the first CS4 ending being canon, if they left it at that it makes Rean more of a legend, isn’t that what it’s about. Plus you have so many good characters you could’ve afforded to lose Rean and Crow who are great characters but I think they need Rean for something in the final chapters.
@nightwolf2356 ай бұрын
yeah same I would have been fine with that ending honestly because sometimes sacrifices need to be made. I liked the epilogue and happy ending stuff, but just like the cast is mentioning death really dont mean shit in legend of heroes everyone coming back and dying and coming back.
@Ghalion6666 ай бұрын
The fake death thing is very much a flaw in the series. But it doesnt bug me so much that I would have spent a third of the entire podcast debating it =p. Im not complaining about that directly either, it very well represents how the trails community fixates on that aspect of the series more than it personally matters to me. That being said one issue with that flaw that nobody ever seems to bring up is it is going to poison the well for future deaths in the series. As someone who wasnt a massive crow, millium, rean fan to begin with... if they kill off a character for REAL later on and I happen to like them more than all the other fake death characters, its going to make me resentful how the character *I* like is actually gone when all the other ones got fake outs. I personally think aky 3rd is a great trails game, probably my 3rd to 5th fave, and it ages like fine wine moreso than virtually every other game. I like reverie but I prefer 3rd's doors. Alot of reverie's dreams make me feel like "wtf do I give a ^$*#* about this?!". Like that weird ghost hunting story where kurt is dressed like a female. Tita's stay in erebonia thing felt like padding that could have been accomplished in a cutscene, but dear god use that dungeon bgm in more areas, its like one of the best dungeon themes in the series and it only got used for 1 option dream dungeon?! Aaahhh! I wish I could mention more but honestly some were downright forgettable IMO. Finally I want to say that nadia, lapis, and rufus make a great cast to work with. I hope we get much more in the future but I doubt it. Swin is, eh. Not annoying but seemingly of little importance too.

Crow was revived because he was needed for rhe Rivalries. Millium's death and resurrection was fine because she was hardly human anyways. Not killing main characters is fine because they clearly mean to use these characters agaon in the future. Now what I can't forgive is when these massive structures(like the naval base) being instantly destroyed without warning and them being just like "Oh thank god nobody was there." As if it's completely normal to leave these military structures completely unmanned.
@drakenstoc48856 ай бұрын
I literally sat there in disbelief when they had the gall to say that there was no one in Juno Naval Fortress when it was destroyed. As much as I like these games, that was easily one of the dumbest moments in all of storytelling that I've ever seen.
