The first in what will perhaps be a series of lore videos about Legend of Legaia. It focuses on the secondary antagonist in Legend of Legaia, Songi. All information stated in the video was taken from a combination of the video game, the game novel, and V-Jump's character bios for the game prior to its release.

I've been waiting year's for someone to dive into the deep world and lore of this game and story. Not only have you actually done it, but you have done It well. Please continue to produce the lore videos for this game. Im currently serving in the United States Army and i would sincerely enjoy the nostalgia of this story as i listen to it in the rare down time i have. I would hope you will do a video on the entire cast, types of Seru, Genesis Trees. The mist, and much more. Please let me know if you need ideas for material. Still to this day Songi is one of my favorite characters of all time. He used his pain to become the strongest being in Legaia. Cort slightly surpassed him at the end, but he was literally fused with juggernaut to do so. Imagine of Songi had obtained the full power of the genesis tree, he would have been completely unstoppable.

Drove me nuts as a kid. Going into the game you already know you’re gonna have 3 party members eventually. So getting to Biron and finally meeting Gala I was so excited, then very disappointed. Still love this game though.

I’ve believed Songi’s end was dark and scary for me. I really thought that Songi would have had a redemption arc and/or possibly be the fourth member but that wasn’t the case. I replay that scene many times to get a better understanding on what the Ra-Serus were saying. They said the Seru-Kai was intolerant of human they ceased to exist if they enter this world. They said, “Songi can no longer exist in the Seru-Kai” then his body shatter to pieces. However, if you look closely, there is a white light appearing in his body after he was shattered. Using a reference from Dragon Ball Super; Beerus’s Hakai is shown to erase a person from existence. You could say Songi may have been Hakai in the Seru-Kai world, but I think he wasn’t "fully" hakai. I believe that white light could have been his soul/spirit. They said he could no longer exist anymore in “Seru-kai’ but maybe he may have a rebirth back in the human world. I think similar with Kid Buu/Uub in DBZ maybe this white light/soul/spirit may return back to the human world and be reincarnated has a good person this time. If Cort can be reincarnated as a infant to ‘retry’ life one more time then maybe the same can be said for Songi possibly off-screen. I would like to think the shadow/dark part of Songi’s soul/spirit may have been cleansed since Songi is referred has a shadow or alter ego of Gala. A cool idea would have been if there was a sequel to this game maybe a young reincarnated Songi could be a main character along side with Cort and who knows where that journey could take. I've often wondered if Songi was been corrupted by the Sim-seru and if these new ambitions were really his own aside been better than Gala.

Garou from One Punch Man actually reminds me a LOT of Songi. Both their appearance and goals are very similar. Fun fact: Takashi Nagasako, the voice actor for Songi, is actually the voice of Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker and Smash Bros. (Melee and Ultimate).

We LOL fans are a dying breed. My first RPG that stemmed my hunger for conquering RPGs, not just completing them. I wanted to dominate them with the best strats and stats to destroy every secret boss and decimate the final bosses. This RPG is what made all others going forward look easy. This video was a welcome reflection of the time LOL was at the core of my gaming life. Thanks, this was a nice video. Im subscribed.

Just looked over your channel and saw that this is your only lore video. PLEASE make more of these. I'm going to have to watch through your entire 100% playthrough series which is in english and I'm so happy for that. I don't think I have the time/patience to play through this entire game... but I want to see it all again and refresh my memory. My younger brother played this while I watched when we were.... 9 and 10 or so... maybe younger. I can't remember. I don't really like playing JRPGs either.. but I would LOVE this game to get a remake. If it could get something like what they're doing with FF7 (which would be stupidly ambitious)... I FREAK out... I would even take just... some different game set in the same setting. It's just such a cool setting.

That would be great, keep the Serus. Make the battle system have an active component, or not, to make it flexible for different kinds of players. It'd be really interesting to see the world without the mist but with a Pokemon like vibe with their approach to Serus

Songi was an interesting antagonist. One thing I didn't get when I played it 2 decades ago: why did he know all of Cort's plans? Why would Cort tell them to Songi? Songi never does anything to help Cort, and indeed only wants power for himself and cares nothing for Cort-- so how does Songi always know all of the bad guys' plans (and the good guys' plans too, for that matter)?

He must be met with Mist's henchmen after got dying Ra-Seru. Then they changed it to Ra-Sim Seru. As gratitude, Songi tried to help Cort with trying to kill Vahn, Noa, and Gala. But yeah, i wish they showed it in the game. I heard Legaia had its novel too.

Wow, really appreciate the good work on this video. I actually didn't know about his backstory. Learned a lot about this fantastic world. Btw, it is implied that Cort turned his ra-seru to a sim seru before he even got it. Did Cort actually left a modified ra-seru in the eastern forest as a trap for potential heroes?

Songi´s fate was way too cruel yeah sure he was not a nice guy but not really that evil yeah he stood in our way but he told us that zeto was waiting for us and wished that Gala would not lose to him and when we fought him again in Ratayu where the genesis tree was at he kept his promise of removing the barrier for the genesis tree for us man i always hoped that him and Gala would make up with each other at the end of the game but sadly his ra sim seru was clearly consuming his mind like how rouge was consuming corts mind he did not even get a second chance like cort just completely wiped into nothingness and because of this we would not be able to fulfill our promise to Zopu and Maya and return him back to Biron his death was so god damn heart breaking still not over it he deserved to be in prison and pay for his crimes but be completely wiped out is way too cruel man

Yeah, I never got the impression Songi and Gala were as young as they're stated to be; they both look mid/late-20s easily, especially Songi; just look at him in the intro, sure he's got some evil shimmer to his eyes from the Sim-Seru but my man looks waaaay older than 19.

"Could Songi have had a bright future if he made a few different choices?". No. I don't buy into the theory that Jedo Influenced Songi and turned him Evil, despite Meta only stating she "Sensed Evil" from Songi after he put Jedo on. This is for one single reason: Deception. Deception is a malicious act, Long before Songi even found Jedo he Deceived everyone in the monastery in order to trick Gara into taking poison shortly before their bout in the tournament. While you could argue this is a "harmless" evil act compared to what he'd do after he found Jedo, it was still an evil act of deception. I think Songi's path was set regardless of *how* he set that path into motion due to his core personality being evil, even if Jedo only served as an amplifier. Jedo didn't turn Songi evil, he was already evil, Jedo at best simply multiplied whatever Songi inherently was.

I don't even think ra-seru Jedo is the one who multiplied Songi's evil. A dark ra-seru isn't an evil ra-seru as the only evil ra-seru is juggernaut.

first question trouble me how Songi meet Cort . ? there is an ocean between them . another question most importantly : how Songi manage to give the Ra Seru Egg to Curt to another contentant and come back to the Biron Munk town and do what he did not to mention the three monks with him did they wait for him kill them ? weird

Sim-Seru user can teleport, example: Zeto, Dohati, Jette. Maybe Songi met with Zeto, because Zeto's place was the nearest. But yeah, i hoped they explained this in the game. I heard there are Legaia's novel.
