The Jade Emperor is the supreme god in Chinese Taoism. He was originally a benevolent prince in the mortal world, named the Prince of Guangyan Miaole. He gave up the throne and after millions of years of hard practice, he finally became a Taoist and was named the Jade Emperor, in charge of the three realms and six paths. He not only commands the gods in heaven, but also judges the good and evil in the world. The "Jade Emperor Grand Court Meeting" held on the ninth day of the first lunar month every year is the time for the gods in heaven to report their work. The Jade Emperor symbolizes justice and authority. He is revered as "Tian Gong" by the people and is widely worshipped. His image is majestic and fair, representing people's awe of social order and all things in heaven and earth.
