I'm removing my 12" Legend Revo-A rear shocks after two riding seasons and replacing them with 13" Legend Revo-A rear shocks for increased lean angle and improved ride/handling.

Liked your video. I was also concerned about lowering the ground clearance and scraping more. I'm gonna order the AEXO standard height and the 13" REVO on my 2016 road glide. According to my correspondence with legends the combo should keep ground clearance the same as stock. I put the MJK floor boards on which raised them 1" higher then stock. They helped. I'm hoping this new setup will give me better cornering in the twisties.

It pains me to say it but most Harley riders are clueless about what makes a motorcycle enjoyable to ride. I've got 13" Revo-A shocks and cartridges on my '14 Road King. I can still grind the floorboards but the stability and handling are like day-and-night over stock.

I wanted to thank you for your video's. I recently purchased a 2011 vaquero and found your video's to be the most informative for some of the upgrades I plan to do. I also have a 2014 vstar 1300 deluxe that I customized quite a bit. Thought it was funny being the two bikes you and wifey had. Thank you again,great video's

Thanks for the positive feed back! I really appreciate it. Those too bikes are about the best in class metric touring bikes. The Vaquero was way to much work to make it run right in my option but the Yamaha is an amazing bike that just gets better with aftermarket parts. And they are cheap, unlike a Harley that is expensive to start and then takes $10k to make it worth riding. But the availability of parts and dealers all over the makes the Harley a winner for long distance touring in rural areas like we do.

Great video. I’ve got the same setup on my FLHX, 13” revos…however, I’m thinking of swapping for 12”, only because the axle nut on the right side is very close to my exhaust…I’ve got the same Rineharts as well. Did you find the axle nut making contact with the pipes while riding at any point?

Hey bro cool video. I’m about to buy a set of Revo’s ideally 12” because I like the height of my bike when it’s parked.. I know I should get the 13” for the better ride so I’m curious as your experience having both. Did you get the 12’s to keep the stance but switch to 13 for the ride quality? I’d appreciate any feedback thanks

Yes, it was a mistake to do the 12" before. The 12" were too short for a 220# rider.

Thanks for the video... so I get what your saying and I spoke with Legend about this set up. I have a 21’ front tire with the Legend 21’ Cartridges in the front and they are stiff as hell which I am ok with because I don’t get the dive anymore while braking accelerating. They suggested to go to the 13’ inch back shock but while the bike is sitting I don’t want the ass end to be jacked up higher than the front. Did this happen when you put those 13’ on there?
@nickeminoski22054 жыл бұрын
So have you gotten any miles on the 13"? If so, was it worth the swap? I currently have 12" revo a and I am considering dropping the money on the 13". The 12" just doesn't seem to do very well on Chicago's crappy roads. I feel like I'm hitting the bump stop hard with a 1/2" of droop.

i'm getting the same setup installed later this week. after watching this and digging more. i understand why the front works better and helps handling, but if it's riding that much lower in the front. does it hurt cornering from dragging sooner. i'm dragging my floorboard mounts as it now stock. just worried i'll get more traction in the front and better ride. but then lose cornering ability from bottoming out quicker.

@FriedChickenBlowout8 ай бұрын
I had some KTS 12" on the bike when I got it, they were too wide for me and didn't fit my wrist angle. In retrospect I should have got a different set of 12" bars, they would have been a better overall height than the 10". The 10" were perfect for my wife's bike. Got with 12" would be my suggestion.

The method of sag measurement you used - is that per the instructions? In watching other videos the 1" sag was taken with the rider on the bike as opposed dividing the sag between the bike and the rider
@FriedChickenBlowout4 жыл бұрын
There was no dividing the sag between the bike and the rider. I did it that way because I knew about what it would take to make it sag an inch with me on it. I got most of the adjustment out of the way before I had to call my wife out to the garage to measure. Once I was on the bike it's at 1", I was just trying to save time for my wife since I could get it close without me being on the bike. I only need a couple turns to finish once she was involved. You just want 1" total sag with the rider. I just happened to get there based on my past experience a little different to save my wife time.

Just got my revo as and im one of theose guys I just couldnt get the adjustments even on both sides trying like hell to get the 1 inch sag- So once I get that 1 inch sag on one side, I can count the threads on that side and make sure there same thread count on both side?
@FriedChickenBlowout4 жыл бұрын
Mike Rossman get them both adjusted the exact same to start with an even number of threads on each side. Measure ONLY one side of the bike, don’t matter what side. Now adjust BOTH sides the same number of turns until ONE side of the bike measures the correct sag. It doesn’t matter one bit that the other side is slightly different in sag. Just pick a side to measure and do all the measurements on that one side adjusting both shocks the same number of turns until the sag is correct on the side you choose to measure. Then go ride the bike. If it’s too stiff or too soft then adjust BOTH sides the same number of turns up or down until the ride is where you want it. Never measure the other side of the bike. As long as the shocks are setup the same number of turns on both sides you’re fine.

I didn't think the rear looked much higher when parked so it really didn't affect the look of the bike. It did ride much better and there's more clearance for slow speed turns. I would highly recommend doing the 13" over the 12".

@FriedChickenBlowout4 жыл бұрын
Jerry Sidlar yes but you must remove the bags to make adjustments to preload. You can reach the rebound adjustment without removing the bags. You will need to make about 1 turn of each preload adjuster first luggage and likely 2-3 turns for two-up and luggage. You can mostly measure this before hand to you know the ball park and go from there based on feel.

@friedchickenblowout I was watching multiple videos on these shocks prior to a purchase and everyone has stated the drop to be a half inch with the rider on. I'm 5"8 as well and I have the ohlins HD772 which are also 13". Once the sag is set, it is very close to stock seat height, because like he said in the video, the stock 12" shocks sit and ride fully extended. I have no problem at all flat footing with the 13" shocks and extra 1" of travel makes a huge difference.

Big difference in the ride, well worth going with the 13" over the 12". The height difference is barely noticeable sitting next to my wife's bike. The increased lean angle is a big plus at slow speeds. I've not had it up in the mountains in Colorado yet because of all the shit cold weather but I would assume it will make a big difference getting down in the corners as well. Should have went with the 13" to start with.

I installed a Legends suspension (Axeo 1" lower front, 12" Revo A rear) on my 2016 ultra. I was wanting a lower overall stance. I found the rear to be very stiff out of the box. I turned the spring out 3 full turns and it still seems as if I'm not getting the recommended sag. Seeing how far out you have yours I'm gonna run that spring out more. Also, thanks for posting the videos. I watched your Legends video before doing my fork. I'm also planning on going with a Sinister sound upgrade after watching your install and review video.

Did you ever hit the sweat spot for the adjustment? I had to get really far out because I don't rid two up much at all. But then you run into more bottoming out on big bumps, which is what caused me to move to the 13"... I'm just getting out today for the first long ride on the 13" so that will be interesting.

@@FriedChickenBlowout Same, I had to turn them out 3 or so more turns. Rides great solo but with my wife on the back it was def too soft. I also sent my fronts back to Legend to have them switched to stock height. I'll let you know how that goes soon as the weather breaks.

SuperApo&son 8 if you want the bike stock height when it’s parked without a rider you need the 12”. Correctly adjusted with the rider on the bike the 12” will be 1/2” lower than stock. If you want the best ride get the 13”. Correctly adjusted with the rider on the bike the 13” will be stock height. But when you get off the bike the 13” will be about 1/2” taller than stock.
@Jimbobd4214 жыл бұрын
Well right now I don’t like the 13” Revo A. I had them installed and it jacked me up more than I liked. I like a low ride anyway. I added a 1.5” lowering block I had on the shelf and now it’s stiff as a board. Hardly any sag and the ride is so rough. Do I need to re ajust the sag since I added the block. I’m thinking about trading these 13” on a set of 12’s keep the block on bike and see how it does. Before the block I had nice sag and rode pretty good just up to high for my comfort level. That’s the only reason I put the blocks back on. Any recommendations from you. Thanks and awesome video.

Michael Ayala that’s totally dependent of the weight of the rider and passenger. You’d need to review the Legend website for weight suggestions or contact them directly. If you have the heavy duty the sag setup would be the same.

I finally bought my first new HD Street Glide only to quickly learn it has the worse riding supension of any bike I have ever owned.. Yea, 25k for horrible design and engineering for those that are short-avg height, and in there recommend body weight..To stomach the purchase, it's taking much more unexpected money..so beware. I found a used set of basic Ohlins HD 12" for the rear which improved the rear ride 50%, now need to choose my expense for the front. Something I should point out..yea the OEM shocks didn't compress or sag with my weight, but the 12" Olins can, and so with Legends 12 (or Olins) the rear height will drop about 1/2" with proper preload adjustment.. So they 12" Legend or Olins will still sit about 1" lower than a 13" Olins or Legend replacement. I been riding solo since, and I think I've bottomed out (or hit the rod/piston bumper) maybe once with my 12" Olins.
