John Lennon said they were doing what the Sex Pistols were doing, except in their early days they had to put a shine on it so it was acceptable. You could say they were protopunk. They influenced a lot alternative bands. Of course U2, Oasis, Nirvana and others were inspired by punk bands, David Bowie, etc. U2 coming out punk and continuing as a post-punk band.

Bee Gees were not a disco group, they just had a disco phase. The video missed the most obvious band who were influenced by The Beatles - Electric Light Orchestra or ELO. Jeff Lynne is a massive Beatles fan and they were big fans of him

Indian music was introduced to the U.S. and the western world by Ravi Shankar who in turn introduced the music to the Beatles and Donovan as well as a blues guitarist whose name I am blanking on. The Beatles were the first to POPULARIZE Indian music thanks to George. Please if you are going to report on the Fabs get your facts straight! Jimi Hendrix was never considered heavy metal..he was considered psychedelic rock! Geez! And of course the Beatles were Irishman...smh. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band Film? What are you smoking? In addition, how could you possibly forget David Bowie who appeared in The Rutles and was a major fan of The Beatles? And Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees? Donovan who contributed to The Beatles' music and taught John fingerpickings? And not to mention Elvis who tried to revive his career by covering Beatles songs? And Cher who performed the song "Ringo, I Love You?" And how in the world could you possibly not include The Rolling Stones of whom Brian Jones was close to George and that J and P wrote their first hit? And finally The Who in which Pete wrote in The Seeker, the lyrics, "I asked Bobby Dylan, I asked The Beatles?" And GnR? All of the bands I mentioned were much more influenced by the Beatles than the ones you mentioned and their influence was much more personal. If you are going to be a socalled expert Beatles site, do your bloody research! Smh.

The Beatles influenced a lot of alternative bands and artists. However, U2, Oasis, Flaming Lips, Nirvana and more were influenced by punk and other subgenres of alternative. U2 came from punk and continued on as post-punk. And grunge and britpop are also subgenres of alternative.

There's so many great bands that started in the 60s and 70s and cross over to today. Music is so subjective but for my money Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever. Not just the 60s or 70s. People clamor for them to this day even though the Who and the Stones and others still or have toured in some capacity or lineups . Zeppelin just won't do it really. Limited capacity for sure. Page and Plant tour, it's not called Zeppelin. A few benefit shows and that's it. Plant has had his own award winning solo career and fine solo albums. I love bands like the Cure. The Police. REM. Depeche Mode. U2. The whole spectrum but for my money Zeppelin is the greatest, most talented and influential band of all time. With the Beatles a close second
