@RobCoops8 сағат бұрын
Do you realize that the vast majority of the man's wealth is tied up in stocks of companies, it is not like he has a few billion sitting on a bank account. If he were to just give away lets say 50% of his fortune the companies that he currently owns will no longer be his, the families getting those stocks would just sell the stocks to get the money out driving the overall price down sharply resulting in destabilizing the companies and reducing his fortune far more than 30%. What he did and still does instead is he places the stocks in the trust of the one person that he can trust to do the right thing, himself. As a result the companies flourish and are able to employ large numbers of people while also generating wealth for not just Mr. Buffet but also others that invest in them as well as those that work for them. Which in turn allows all these people to pay others for services and goods spreading the wealth even further. Even a few trillion dollar company like Apple notices when someone like Warren Buffet decides to exit his position in the company. This is a serious signal to the wider market and puts a bit of a damper on the stock price. Now imagine that he would do this to a much much smaller company. Once he is gone he is ensuring that his children are able to continue their philanthropy and over time give the wealth to others without them having any direct access to the money and squandering it on silly things for instance. That should be a good thing.

Why won't Buffett and Berkshire fund managers invest in Tesla?
@RobCoops8 сағат бұрын
Because it is not a good business for them to get into. The majority of the value is based on future expected results not based on actual current underlying value. This is something that Buffet and his company have not been interested in historically, so why would they do this now. They are much more interested in organizations that one the understand, and two the can see having a clear competitive advantage. Making a car is not that difficult there are lots of companies that do that and a lot of those companies have far more experience as well as capital to do so making it not that unlikely that one of them will figure out how to compete with Tesla. Every successful investor becomes successful by choosing certain stocks/companies over others for their own reasons. They follow a standard method that works well for them to decide which company to get in bed with. They would not likely be as successful if they just jumped on every hype stock out there or if they decided to get into industries they are do not see as good for them to be in for what ever logical, well thought out or selfish reasons.
@californiadroneservices37912 сағат бұрын
This guy is all hype and no substance. Why not give it away now? Dude‘s gonna be 100 and a few years and he still wants to hold onto 150 billion. Any idiot can give away all their money when they’re dead, how exactly is that charitable?
@monkeygraborange9 сағат бұрын
Your jealousy is palpable.
@RobCoops8 сағат бұрын
Ehm because that would wreck the companies that he owns by making their stock price crash and their financial situation impossible to sustain. That would cause many tens of thousands of people to loose their jobs as these companies are forced to downsize or even shutdown completely. This would not be charitable at all this would be very irresponsible. Keep in mind that he does not have 150 billion sitting in a bank account he has nearly all his money tied up in stocks.

@RobCoops8 сағат бұрын
You could of course have decided to not buy the electricity from his company moved somewhere else for instance. But you would have found that all other companies did the same as their cost to produce the electricity and transport the electricity rose. It is rather silly to think that over a period of lets say 50 years you can charge the same price for the generation and transport of electricity while inflation on average grinds away 2 to 3% of the value of the money you need to spend to do both.
