Done 60 ish PS2 with DMS4 back in the days . harder in slim as they burn the laser easily without dms laser fix. no problems in Fat, i still got one new DMS4 chip and one resolved from a crushed PS2. might take a trip down the memory lane and solder them in or sell them.. and yes several DMS4 chips of all them i mounted was faulty . got 5 or 6 faulty ones in the lot

It interest me, that the modchip of our ps2 slim is dms4 clone called M7-Auto, it acts like a unmodified ps2 because the "Playstation 2" Text doesn't have any watermark in it unlike modbo had a matrix infinity 1.93 (whatever version you have) watermark underneath the text, that modchip doesn't have one. I dont know i think my modchip doesn't have ability to go to ToxicOS, only to its settings menu. I first discovered the Toxic thingy when we bought a pirated copy of god of war 1 when the game boots up instead of the ps2 text, it say TOXIC with a skull on the logo. I don't know what's the purpose of it but i realized its a dvd9 patcher.
@ModzvilleUSA2 жыл бұрын
Mars Pro is another clone. There's Toxicbios and ToxicOS, AFAIK all the clones had toxic bios. With the mars pro you can't save the settings and I'm pretty sure the M7 is the same as well. OPL is way better anyways but I think it's pretty bad ass to have a full blown hdloader built into the modchip and can be loaded directly from the chip instead of memory card, ide ect.

I ended up with the bad DMS4 Pro batch, black screen, random boot. Frustrating indeed. Only information available was from some random website in Spanish. I stumbled upon fixing the issue myself by removing the 33mhz oscillator and tapping off of the system's clock instead, much like the installation of other modchips. Seems like it may have been a sync problem, hasn't black screened since. Worth a shot!

I dug up my old PS2 with DMS4 Pro. I am also getting black screen when loading a game. I think my DMS4 also went bad. Can you give a bit more details what you did?

Found one in a v7 phattie as well. Had to redo the wiring though as whoever installed it before me did an absolute 40pin IDE Cthulhu wire mess inside. A bit of Kynar later and it was a success, as well as a Modbo 5.0D in a dual-color slim I had around (black top, silver bottom)

Great video! What a legend of a modchip. It's a shame so many of them are broken nowadays. I installed one in a v7 FAT for someone a year or two ago and i had a similar experience. It came with toxicBios installed, so naturally i went straight to flash it to toxicOS, but it wouldn't do it :/ It would just go "flashing.... attempt X" , and count up to infinity. I'm pretty sure the nand was bad. I wish i thought of reflowing it like you did. I attempted to record it too, but i did a terrible job of filming haha. It worked okay with toxicBios, but what's the point of having a DMS4 Pro and no toxicOS A bit of advice, be carefully with super glue. It can destroy traces and create shorts super easy and super fast! Keeping it as far away from the board as possible would be wise.
@ModzvilleUSA2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah I still have these other 2 fucky chips sitting here. I bought replacement flash memory and plan on doing a video trying to fix them eventually. One of them works but gets a black screen once it's reset after warming up and needs to cool down to boot again. The other one won't flash at all. wicking the pads on the dms4s is super dicey. They literally just melt away as you clean the old solder and you need to jump wires. :/

Hey brotha I've bought a matrix chip and Sega bios chip, for the ps2 can you help me trouble shoot why the disc drive isn't isn't ejecting or working anymore? The drive worked fine in an almost brand new ps2, Romeo fix isn't working, any tips? Also thanks for your deals, they are MUCH better than everywhere else

You likely bridged those two pins and fried your motor with the romeo "Fix" I've had that happen before, Don't ever do the Romeo fix, it's a really janky mod. Picfix is much better. I have picfixes for v9s - v12s on my mod shop along with diagrams for installing them.

Sorry bro, I still gotta contact you about the Neo 4 chipped PS2 consoles that I have. I really wanna work something out if you're interested in installing some HDMI chips in my Dreamcast, N64, and O.G. X-Boxes. It would make for some great videos 👍. I've got a V9 with a DMS 4 EZ chip that I did long ago. ToxicOS is okay, but several games won't run on it (from HDD) such as Crisis Zone & Gradius V. OPL is definitely more compatible. Chip installer here (RSX), the DMS is far from legendary. I've had to remove and replace a large number of them over the years that I've amassed a collection of them. Specifically DMS, I don't have any other brands in my scrap pile.

It’s a rad chip when it works IMO. Toxicos being flashed to the chip is neat and I’d like to see something similar for a modern OPL based chip. I was given about 4 of these and they literally all had issues Once toxicos was flashed to it. You’re absolutely right about them being unreliable
@ocstrangeness9 ай бұрын
@@ModzvilleUSA Pretty much. Along the same line: You and I both have a large supply of the mars pro 806's for sale, we probably bought them from the same guy oveseas. I still have a handful of the 816hd's (along with *many* others unrelated to dms clones). Decent chips but the bios settings can't be saved. I never did get why people are into toxic-os, except for noting that disc compatibility is slightly better than its matrix counterparts.

@@cavisualproductions4406 Far from it. Can't play any pal games, any ps1 games, wont kill copy protection. Still lots of games that don't have full compatibility with opl. I Check out the matrix bios and see all the additional settings. No point owning a ps2 if it won't play everything.
