When I was a kid in the 90’s this game completely captivated my best friend and I for a whole summer. Learning the entire map and getting every item on our quest to beat the game. There was no KZbin or guides, we had to sit there with a notebook and figure it out. Was an amazing time.

I remember me and my two friends using notebook paper for the map too! 😂 We looked crazy with notebook paper everywhere 😂 there were notes and drawings. We had 4 sections on 1 piece of paper. We spent a whole 3 days drawing that map. It was dead useful though. It was an amazing summer ❤ I remember getting slurpys and beef jerky then gathering at my house super early and spending all day just exploring and amateur cartography 😂

In the lower left corner of the Village, there is a little hut you can open with a Bomb, but the Wall has no Cracks or anything. You can find respawning Bombs and Arrows in there, very useful at the start.

When he passed by the Cucco hut and we saw that he was saving the bomb for the quarrelling brothers, I had to see if I was the only one who, as a rule, went to the bombable hut to get more bombs and then to the Cucco hut before moving on. One thing I love about the SNES is that when people know what they're doing, they can make the graphics and game look and feel like an animated cartoon. I know there's less interest in that now, but it really has helped the great games age well.

Using the sword to deflect projectiles back at an enemy later took the name "Dead Man's Volley." It became a pretty big staple in some Zelda games later on, including Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time, as well as Twilight Princess just to name a few, most notably during the Ganondorf fights, or Phantom Ganon in Wind Waker.

Zelda: A Link to the Past just hits me so hard no matter how many times I come back to it. Some may say it's just nostalgia, I was just the right age at the right time when it came out. Maybe so, but the impact feels like so much more. It always feels like such a LIVING, breathing experience. The world of this game feels so alive, it feels like such an "event" to trek through it time and time again. The graphics are so rich and clean and vibrant, it is the peak of styles for the 16-bit systems. In a way I feel like the hype generated by the print magazines of the era really contributed to the experience, and continue to do so to this day. Getting to the Eastern Palace area and meeting Sahasrahla each time always feels like such a landmark point in the adventure. I just want to live in this world forever.

30:36 You don't need to go all the right side nor using the stabbing technique to beat it. All you need to do is go to the second alley, go left until you reach the sign on the up left, go down of the sign by simply jump between the bench, then you can reach the boy under 15. I can beat around of 9 seconds. 1:42:58 You not need to lift the other pots. Once you kill the red guard on the middle of the room, you can use the boomerang and that's it. Nice video and you make me learn so many things. Like I didn't know that the old lady, the one outside of Kakariko village, is a fairy. The cucco (they're official nane btw) in the house is a old lady and finally, you can have the friendly bee by dashing right on the statue in the ice cave. Great job doggo.

I love all your videos, but this one was very special to me. The Legend of Zelda was my very first game on the NES in the 80's and favorite game for years that took me six months to beat "Gannon" (the very first spelling of his name for those who do not know) and save Princess Zelda. Then in 1988-89 I rescued Princess Zelda once more from that sleeping spell that took 11 months for me - an awesome part of my childhood and video games were my best friend from years of torture with bullies and other awful things. I had the poster on my door for the upcoming games for the new SNES and Zelda: ALTTP was my target and knew I'd wait longer than most kids to even play it as my parents would never buy me a console, let alone had no money, but eventually saved enough from mowing lawns and then played finally - 16 bits of pure awesome in my hands! That game was my saving grace for many reasons, many personal and secret, but nonetheless saved me. To this day when I pop my cartridge in and press "START", playing it STILL gives me goosebumps knowing I have a full adventure that awaits, and the color palette used, the characters, the incredible story unfolding...this was truly Miamoto's finest cut gem he ever produced and it all began with camping with his family and one day stumbling upon a mysterious cave...and then he entered into uncharted territory where adventure awaits... This is why when this video came out I almost...no, I teared up a little in all honesty as memories flooded my memory banks of that first time playing and living the adventure of ALTTP - that special game that made gave hope for that child I once was who was bullied for having Tourette's Syndrome and made life easier to bear. I just want to say, thank you for doing a video on a game that has such a special meaning to me, in more ways than typed. You are full of awesome, and to all of those out there in KZbin land who grew up on these games of our childhoods...you CAN beat video games!

But he did his best and got me a pocket dictionary PT-BR to EN-US and vice versa so I could understand what they're saying and making notes on what word means what (most for FFVI and its magic and items). So, if nowadays I can not only write but also speak and understand English it's because of the these games that stimulated me to learn this language by myself and I just can't be more thankful for them. Such an awesome video as usual btw. I replay Alttp at least once a year and the intro is so nostalgic to me haha

In Kakariko Village, in the bottom left there is a small building without any doors. You can actually bomb the front of it to create an entrance. Inside is mices that you cal kill and a few pots that will give you some rupees, arrows and bombs. Exit and reenter to regenerate the pots content and mices. Also, the spot you mentionned you needed the boots, while escorting Zelda, is more or less an errata. Boots can be used but also bombs.

I really love your channel and your videos (growing up with a lot of these "retro"- games) one thing to mention concerning this video: although you reveal dozens of little "secrets" that I weren't aware of, if you get the Book of Mudora before going to the desert and speak to the elder in the northern cave (like you did here), you will never be able to get one line of dialogue where he tells about the book you'll need and what about the apples??? Keep up your excellent work... and thank you

Oh man been waiting for this one for a while. This game holds a very special place in my heart. It’s hard to understand unless you were a gamer back then but after years with the nes and a year or so with the genesis the Super Nintendo came out and just blew us away. The first time turning this game on and seeing those mind blowing graphics and amazing sound I went right up to the counter and bought one and the game (it was on a display in the store and I was originally going to hold off until there was more games). That first part of the game with the rain storm was incredible at the time and just blew my poor genesis out of the water there was just something special about the snes. I was already an older kid with a job in the late 80’s and as awesome as the genesis was compared to the nes this was genuinely the last console that made me go wow and get super excited to buy it and open it up like a kid at Christmas. This was my golden era of gaming and I consider this Zelda the very best in the series and probably the best game of all time period and considering how great Zelda games consistently are that’s saying something. I’m popping this game in and following along as soon as I’m done typing this lol.

“At least we don’t have to call Cps about Link’s sleeping arrangements “. Lol Sir, you drew first blood with that burn.

Zelda LttP was the first Zelda game I actually sat down and beat and enjoyed every minute of it. Have never beat 1 or 2 but LttP... It was the perfect amount of action, adventure, puzzle solving, and just enough hidden secrets to round it all out. Loads of times id find myself saying "oh this will work here" The same as the magic mirror on spectral rock. Also 1:26:59 as I'm sure you know and probably everyone else does it's actually a skullchula from the first game on NES. A nice little nod to Zelda 1.

Man great video, well done, I never considered it the best video game of all time but it definitely is one of MY favorite games of all time, I can't argue with that praise though.

I can't stress enough of how important a fact of this game is, and it ever only appeared in the french-canadian port of the game. A frozen enemy hit with the Magic Hammer will half the time drop 20 rupees, or magic refills. Unless they drop a key, an enemy stunned with the Quake spell, boomerang or hookshot will ALWAYS drop exactly one rupee.

Why would they change that? That's stupid.

@@penismightier9278 In the english version, the NPC that hints it says something like "I got rich by defeating a lot of enemies" but in french he says "Did you know stunned enemies drop riches?"

Fun tip: you can hold your sword out to tap on cracks on walls to see if you can bomb it or not. It makes a distinct noise.

I was one of those people who wanted 000 on my game and as the only way to do this was to never save and quit, I left my SNES on for about a week straight while playing in the afternoons/evenings as a kid. This was before the days of Virtual Console and the like obviously. One of my favorite games of all time.

I just gotta say. I love what you're doing here man. I look forward to all of your drops. They are my "fall asleep to" vids and usually take a couple nights to get though. And no. your vids are not boring. It's just the time i can watch and relax. Glad to see more SNES titles coming through. if you care about one mans opinion... I like seeing vids of the cartage era. Only because it was linear and you could beat them in a couple hours. I think some PS1 games like Metal Gear Solid could work as well. but i do love the old school nostalgia.
