History never ceases to amaze me and seeing Doc Holiday's full true story makes me love his legend even more.

Very well-spoken my friend I completely agree with you!!! I find it weird I did not like history at all when I was going up. But now in my forties I really enjoy it. Although a lot of it makes me ashamed to be human.

The short time of the period called the old west was a very romantic era we shall never see again. It is sad stories such as that of John Henry Holiday makes it so interesting to study. Especially when my grandfather came out of that era. Hr would often tell me a story of the old west. He always had my undivided attention. At times Grandmother would also add to his stories. I was fascinated. I feel that some of the things he and my father taught me are part of the reason l live. today . God has also played a key role. A very important role

Doc Holliday wore a long gray coat. It was a cool day on Oct. 26, 1881. He hid the sawed-off shotgun (that Virgil borrowed from the Wells-Fargo office) under his coat. The Earps didn't pull their guns as shown. Only when someone cocked his gun, either Doc or Frank McLowry, did the fighting commence. Morgan was shot while playing pool, not standing at the bar.

Liar's Moon, a novel by Philip Kimball A collection of seemingly far fetched tales of/from the olde west. Nearing the end of the read's conclusion, the writer cast his audience with doubt. Perhaps these events were true. Perhaps the title deserves a question mark.

He didnt CHOOSE his life on the fringes. He was trained as a dentist then diagnosed with Tuberculosis or consumption at the time. Not many wanted a dentist that had TB and this drove him to his other trade, Poker, which put him at odds with all types. He wasnt a "good" guy by the definition at the time but he didnt really CHOOSE that deffinition.

The video leaves out Ike's motive for wanting to kill the Earps. He accused Wyatt of breaking his promise. He thinks Wyatt told Doc of their agreement and Ike was scared that the other cowboys would find out and kill him. That's why he was on a bender all night before the gunfight. As it turns out, someone beat Wyatt to the stage robbers and killed 3 of them. The 4th escaped to New Mexico.

Why is it no one mentioned Wyatt Earp received several bullet holes through his coat at the OK Corral gunfight and during another occasion? However, not one bullet touched him, I find this ironic..
@makuangree22283 жыл бұрын
I believe it's a common mistake to think Wyatt received bullet holes in his coat during the OK corral shootout. While not entirely false it was a different shootout where he received bullet holes in his coat. It was during his famous Vendetta ride when he happened across Curly Bill Brocius before "Nealry cutting him in half" with a double barrelled shotgun at Iron Spring. During which according to Wyatt's testimony he received several bullet holes in his coat and had a bullet pass so near his face while trying mount his horse that he could smell it.

Just found this in Wikipedia article on Wyatt Earp: County Sheriff Charles A. Shibell appointed Virgil Earp as deputy sheriff for the eastern part of Pima County, Arizona, on July 28, 1880, which included Tombstone.[59]: 65 The sheriff's position was worth more than $40,000 (equivalent to $1,123,000 in 2021) per year, because he was also county assessor and tax collector, and the board of supervisors allowed him to keep 10% of the amounts paid.[67]: 157

These documentaries are interesting but they leave out facts that are inconvenient. In FACT, Doc and Wyatt had a falling out and a bad one. There was no Wyatt at Doc's death bed shedding a tear like in that horrible Kurt Russell movie. The reason for this falling out between Doc and Wyatt was because Wyatt had adopted some jewish rituals because Josie was jewish and Doc had an aversion to this that a man would simply change his beliefs because he loved a woman. Being a southern gentleman Doc saw this as lack of character on Wyatt's part and in an argument over this topic he called Wyatt "a little jew boy". After this they never spoke again. How about being factual and historically sound instead of romanticizing these characters?

They left out that the army guy made a deal with the McLowrys that they'd bring the mules back the next day. They never did and the army just let it go. Wyatt was livid about this "deal" but could do nothing since the mules belonged to the army.
