WOW! Thanks ya'll. Tips are great. Going on first Disney Cruise, the Wonder for Mardi Gras!! "Laissez les bon temps roulet" (Let the good times roll) down here from Cajun Country. Bringing all my "throw me something mister" Mardi Gras beads, shirts, etc. These tips are so very helpful. Having been on other cruise lines, don't want to take anything for granted. You can also ask for Mickey Bars for dessert at dinner as well. A couple of nights I wasn't feeling what was offered on the menu for dessert so I asked for a Mickey Bar. It's a shame DCL doesn't offer on board spending credit anymore when you book a place holder.

We have done 2 disney cruises. Both times on the Wonder: Bahamas and California Coast. Both were great experiences. We had second seating for dinner. On pirate night, didn't know ahead of time about the midnight pirate buffet after the fireworks. The Turkey legs looked delicious but we were still full from dinner to have a second dinner. Tip: if you are assigned the second dinner seating, you can opt out for the night and dine early at cabanas. Then enjoy the late night pirate buffet. Too much food!

I've been on 4 Disney cruises, but our most recent one was our first one with small children- a very different experience! One thing I didn't know before that I wish I did is that every day for a limited time, areas of the kids deck are in open house mode, which means everyone is welcome! And all activities during that time are open to everyone. I had never gone over there before having kids because I had just assumed they were off limits to adults. Since my preschooler wasn't really into being dropped off without us, those open house times allowed us all to play in the kids area together, including baby sister who is too young to be dropped off.

The only negative thing that I wish I knew before my first Disney Cruise was on the Sail Away Celebration. Like most people on their first Disney we were overwhelmed with everything going on around us. They sell frozen drinks in a plastic souvenir logo cup. The drink was nothing more than a Slurpee at a cost of $15.00. It is not worth it. As far as your comment about not getting off the ship is, we fully agree. We feel one time in Nassau is one time too many. We now use that time with uncrowded activities on the ship. The only time we now get off the ship is Castaway Cay. Congratulations on your 6th cruise. Like us you are now a Gold Castaway member. Like you say there are so many things to do, that you can't do them all on one cruise. One thing that we did not witness until our 4th cruise was the Diaper Dash. This is held one day in in the early afternoon in the Atrium Lobby. It is hilarious and we don't miss it
@misschris43955 жыл бұрын

In the next year we have 5 cruises booked and when we are in Alaska I hope that you two have time for lunch. I love the idea of staying on the ship while it's in port. On average which characters have you seen appear multiple times throughout the duration of your cruise? We were unable to score tickets to any of the character meet-and-greets and on top of everything we have a late Port arrival time. Still going to try customer service, but not counting on there being any left. My daughter has an autograph book so I want to make sure she'll get to see some princesses. But if they only appear at the meet and greets or once throughout the cruise, I want to make sure we are in line then. I know Captain Mickey appears several times so I'm not worried about that. I just want to make sure we meet the characters who only appear sparingly.

Thanks for another great video. I am soooo gonna order warm cookies and milk on my May cruise!! We usually ordered the mickey ears each night via room service but didn't know about warm cookies!!. I noted tip in another person's comments that we take buffet tall drink cups over to ice cream machines to make milk shakes and soda floats in them. Loved your idea of Palo for last day and we plan to do our entire 10 day cruise without doing any excursions! Just enjoy the ship and jump off at two ports to visit family in that area. Figure if we invest in the expense of Disney then we want to immerse 100% and get the most value out of the ship, cast, and entertainment they have to offer! Also..tip, pack a box of strong magnet hooks. We hang them all over inside the cabin and hang hats, jackets, towels, lanyards etc. on them for short term storage.

I think one of the best things I stumbled upon was, if you like to drink, research the prices of your favorite spirits before you get to the Caribbean Islands, Bahamas or Mexico. The Duty Free shops have some of the best prices for liquor, I have ever seen. While we were in St. Maarten, I found a bottle of Scotch for $58, while back here in the states I would've payed well over $100.

On our first cruise, I didn't learn about Cove Cafe til the very last day! Now it is my absolute favorite place on any of the ships, but that could be because I am a coffee addict ☕❤ Also, we decided that when we leave the ship on port days, it makes sense to us to come back to the ship for lunch since we already paid for it. This was especially true when we were in Alaska and in port almost all day. Seems silly to pay for food when you are off the ship.

Any thoughts on Disney Cruise photo package? Going with 2 kids and hubby 4 nights out of Port Canaveral to Nassau and castaway
@LeggLife5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, confession, we’ve never purchased the package because we don’t think it’s a good value for us. However, it’s just just 2 of us so we normally take a ton of photos with just us. If we had kids with us and we wanted to make sure to have photo memories without having to remember to take them, maybe we would purchase it. I think it’s one of those things that works great for some and not so great for others.

The "last night" menu isn't always the same. Make sure to check the app and see the specific menu for that night before you decide to skip. I too have some menus that aren't my favorite, but the schedule of which menu is when isn't always the same!! You have the main rotational menu for each restaurant (2 different ones in Rapunzels) and then other themed type nights depending on length of cruise. Captain's Gala, "til we meet again", Pirates, Marvel, etc You can find examples of these menus on disneycruiselineblog.com which is an amazing resource. Of course, you never know exactly what the menu schedule will be until you get onboard and check the app. I don't like pirates menu as much, so you do know that ahead of time which night the pirate will be so I would opt out that night for myself if I had to guess at it. You can also go to Cabanas at dinner where the menu is a mix of special menu items from the different MDR menus. It is table service and not buffet but not as drawn out as MDR timewise.

1. The number 1 thing I wish I knew was just how amazing it would be, and how badly I would want to go back. Other cruise lines just don’t do it like Disney and the price tag reflects that. So be prepared!! And the line to book a placeholder gets HUGE and obnoxious on the last day, so do it on the first few days instead. 2. Room service food is actually good; I regret not utilizing that service more because it’s INCLUDED which is insane! Not everything is amazing but many items are excellent (try the wings, BLT, fries, All Hands on Deck, and chicken Caesar Salad! Skip the grilled cheese.) And of course Mickey bars! 3. You can order items from room service that aren’t specifically on the menu. I wanted celery and carrots to go with my wings and they provided a generous amount. Extra fries? Extra babybel on a cheese plate? No problem, and the cast member taking your order won’t blink an eye. Just remember to bring some $1 and $5 bills for tipping. 4. If you’re not the type of person who fills up a huge reusable cup to drink from at home/work, don’t bother bringing one on the ship. Everyone hypes it up like you NEED one but you don’t. At all. 5. The ship really does become deserted for a few hours when at a port. Take advantage of the mostly empty restaurants, cove cafe, adults areas, pool, water slide and hot tubs! 6. We went on a 14 day cruise. Reading materials ran out halfway but we found other passengers recycled books in cove cafe when they were done. It’s a free exchange. Nice! 7. You can view your professional photos in the DCL app while onboard, you do not have to go to the picture studio area and use the touchscreens. If you plan to do lots of character photos, definitely consider purchasing the professional photo package. 8. The prepaid “suggested” gratuity seemed too small for the level of service we had from our dining team and our stateroom host. They work SO hard and they want your experience to be perfection. Everyone says that, and I didn’t believe it until I experienced it. I was happy to give an extra cash tip to our team on our last night. Enormously deserved.

Hi! New subscriber and I’ve been binge watching you guys! My husband and I booked our first Disney Cruise for September and you guys have us so excited and I feel almost prepared haha! We are doing the 5 night Baja Cali Cruise. Do you recommend getting off in Cabo and/or Ensenada? Have you ever booked or recommend any port adventures? Thank you
@LeggLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi! We actually have a whole series of videos from when we did that exact same cruise! I think it was in May 2018? We did a winery tour and tasting in Ensenada that we really loved!

You don’t have to buy a popcorn bucket on the ship to take advantage of the discount! Just bring a Disney popcorn bucket you already have! ... mine from the park is bigger anyway!! 👍🏻🚢🥰

Cove cafe had those cranberry bliss bars, which tasted exactly like the ones at Starbucks! Those are my favorite, and I was excited to see them there! Got at least 1 every day of my cruise!

on the last dinner night you wont be able to order from the previous menu. it happened to me.

On our last night, our server specifically brought me my favorite food from Tiana’s to Animators (without being asked for, so thoughtful.) So I think it is possible if they’re still serving the menu from the night before in the dining room you ate at 1-2 night prior

I’ve heard there is no tax at the stores onboard. Is that correct? Jones family travel has said the cost of Palo is the tip. Do you think that is correct?
@pauletteb63935 жыл бұрын
There is tax! Also, the cost of Palo is not the tip! Our $40 per person for Palo ended up being $125.
@LeggLife5 жыл бұрын
Palo and Remy are both an added cost and then the tip is on top of that. I believe Palo is $40 per person. So for Sherri and I it’s $80 and we normally tip $40 on top of that because the level of service is so amazing.

I am not a big drinker but I love to get the non alcoholic drink at dinner when it comes with a special souvenire...I got a light up Pascal at Rapunzels on the Magic, a light up Ray at Tiannas on the Wonder and on both I got a fun Remy straw (that was my favorite drink!). Also, I loved the cute popcorn buckets on the Very Merrytime cruise, I got 3😂...leave room in suitcases! I loved the room decoration package for Very Merrytime! Can't wait to get the Halloween one! It really made the room special... Pre order before cruise. Reminder that at Cove Cafe you get a card punched and 6th drink free👍 Another tip, I brought my dessert back to room to eat later cause I was too full. Also, bring pins to trade.

We LOVE the Cove Cafe punch card! And if you don’t fill one up on your cruise you can save it and keep using it on your next cruise!

I completely agree with staying on the ship during port days. That is when my kids do the pools we never do pools sea days we explore the rest of the ship those days :)

Great video! When we did our first cruise on the Wonder we did not know about Cabanas serving breakfast, nor that it was free! We stumbled on it our last day. We were always afraid about extra cost at the fast food places, so did not get breakfast. We had no clue it was all included, or that the restaurants served breakfast. The movie theater offerings are often first run movies, and free. However the snacks sold in the snack bar, are extra. Same for the shows, Preludes is extra. On the Dream and Fantasy the ice cream/sweet store is additional charge too. That would be the shops Venelope’s and Sweet On You, respectively. The best advice I can think of is to check the Navigator, which I believe you can still get the hard copy at guest services. There you can find everything the ship has to offer as far as free gatherings. Also while onboard they have the Mickey’s Detective game. I think that is the name? That is an interactive scavenger hunt for clues around the ship using the artwork. We rarely leave the ship because there is so much to enjoy onboard! Enjoy your trip. I am anxious to hear about it when you return!

Just booked our cruise for December and I’m so excited, it’s been in the back of my mind since we went when I was 16 (maaany years ago!). I think my boyfriend is nervous, he’s never been on a cruise and I think he thinks it’ll just be a ship overrun by kids. I think your videos will help ease his fears :)
