the Republic of Ichkerian flag had a wolf on it and they're nestled in one of the highest parts of the Caucasus mountains, plus the lyrics really give it away "massive shelling of a city under siege" "eager for blood and hard to defeat" "armed with daggers and RPGs" all sound like stuff ripped from headlines from the first assault on Grozny when the rebels kicked Russia's ass. Fun stuff, worth a read through on the internet if you're into brutal wars and ethnic conflicts

Wolves are seen as like a national symbol of Chechen independence, and the Crescent Moon is most likely a reference to Islam which has a huge influence in North Caucasian society (mostly in Ingushetia, Chechnya and Dagestan)
