truly impressed by the amount of work you must have put into this to merge these old units and formations to the new rules system. Impressive! Now, looking forward to the battle!

@@MsNosis Oh, thank you! It’s all Craig’s hard work so I can’t take the credit! It actually ported pretty well, probably since LI owes so much to 1st and 2nd Edition with its core rules, with some minor but important improvements. I hope you enjoy the report, happy viewing! ~ Gordon

@LifeofDie Yes I Never expected it to last to 5 turns, epic! And in close combat, dang the chaos are dangerous! Keep them NetEpic/Legions Imperialis Battle reports coming! Speaking of NetEpic, do you or Craig by any chance have any of those hard to come by/assemble type of armies such as the Eldar Exodites, Dark Eldar or Necrons?
@LifeofDie4 күн бұрын
@ Yep, close combat is where you really want Chaos to be because all of the forces tend to have really powerful cc units - and the Chaos cards can boost them further! With the change we’ve implemented to LI’s VPs rules, I think unless one of us concedes, most of these will turn out to be 5 turns all the way. I’m quite excited by that prospect because most 2nd / NE games were usually done after 2 turns so there’s more options for tactical play now. As to keeping the reports coming, Epic has always been the main draw for the channel so it’s guaranteed that we will continue making these and continually expanding our archive of Epic battle reports! I’m really pleased that we aren’t the only ones who feel as passionately about the game and that there are people like yourself out there that get a kick out of these as well! Apologies, but while we’ve always been interested in seeing those rarer forces on the likes of Tactical Command, neither of us took the plunge, mostly because I think we’re now really happy with the variety of forces that we have. If it’s of interest, here’s a list of all the viable armies we have between us:- Blood Angels Dark Angels Iron Warriors Eldar Orks Imperial Guard Squats Khorne Tzeentch Slaanesh Nurgle Tyranids Cheers again for watching and engaging with us! ~ Gordon

@@LifeofDie Thanks to you guys again for these battle reports. And also a good job combining LI and NE, it seems to work, and now as you said the battles are going to last longer than 2 turns. Awesome! Quite the armies to choose from as well, love it. I'm already stoked for the next battlereport Cheers to you and Craig, have a good one guys!

Hey thanks for the shoutout! I love the progress you have made with the LI-40k conversion.

@@HeadCannonPrime Thank you for making us think about it! Honestly, reintroducing the VPs for breakages was a real revelation because, as you’ve just seen, the game was nip and tuck throughout and just so much fun! The reason we had removed them in the first place was that the standard 2nd edition mission had finally become a bit stale (not bad after hundreds of games in the past 3 decades) and we wanted to see how the new missions played and attempt to try out as many as we could, playing them as intended. Also, other than using the 2nd armies and stats, we were trying to remain as close to LI as possible. By reintroducing the VPs, not only does it make it nigh impossible to win the game on Turn 3, but it improves the game in a number of other points:- 1. Greater potential for tactical play as you will know you are likely to be in the game for a full 5 turns. 2. Increases the need to preserve forces rather than our all or nothing suicidal charges into the objectives. 3. When it was solely about capturing objectives, all that really mattered was infantry. Because of tactical strength, you didn’t have to worry much about vehicles or Titans (who can’t capture objectives) at all. The Titan business in particular felt wrong - why wouldn’t every unit on the battlefield want to take down these huge death machines? Now, even though tactical strength has remained, there is massive incentive to break/destroy everything on the tabletop. Honestly, it’s a total game changer and I think it’s the final part of the puzzle to us having a system which is firing on all cylinders and will serve us well for the remainder of our Epic careers! We are going to have so many amazing and varied games, so thank you again for your support and for the fantastic suggestion! Thanks also for joining us again and I’m delighted you spotted the shoutout because I’d hoped you’d see it! ~ Gordon

Tzeentch flyers and floaters seem to die really easy on every game system, poor buggers!
@LifeofDie4 күн бұрын
@@kharnifex Hi Kharnifex, great to hear from you! Yep, I thought so as well and it was really only that insane roll at the start of the game that saved the Doomwings and allowed them to do a little damage. I said to Craig after the game that I definitely wouldn’t take the Firelord again as his weapons were pretty weak, especially for the cost. The Doomwings I don’t think I used well at all, mostly because I forgot that in LI the unit has to fire at a single detachment- if I’d used them to target garrisoned troops in buildings, that would have meant 3 attack dice against each stand and even the 4+ cover save that troops get might not have saved them. The Hydras with that AA capability definitely did for them all but I do wonder also if LI’s natural 6’s hit would also make flyers a lot more susceptible to attack than previous editions. It’s something we’ll keep an eye on because flyers traditionally have been overpowered so I’m not too upset to see them a little more vulnerable… Thanks as always for watching and taking the time to comment, it’s always appreciated! ~ Gordon
