I feel like I am learning so much about cruising with Disney and I don’t even have one booked. I love your videos x

This is fabulous info!! We almost upgraded our fully paid for cruise to a concierge room. In the end we decided to not do it and instead do a placeholder for another cruise. This answered our questions!!

I am all for more cruises instead of better rooms :)

Thank you! This is great, I will probably definitely book a placeholder because I don’t live in Florida

Unless I am sailing Concierge, I always do a placeholder! However, I have used a placeholder and then decided to upgrade to the concierge level. Happy cruising, Ashley!

I utilized a placeholder near the end of our first cruise last month. I felt like the Cast Member gave me a good idea of its benefits but this video helped out way more! So thanks!

Hi! I am a new subscriber to your channel and I am LOVING the vlogs!!! I did book a placeholder on my first Disney cruise in April 2018 and used it to book another cruise for April 2020. So happy I did the placeholder!!! You mentioned black out dates for using placeholder, spring break being one. I had no clue about this and thankfully I was able to use placeholder for 4/11/20 (our spring break) 7 night Western Caribbean cruise. Just wanted to share that😊 Thanks for all of your amazing videos, I am learning so much!!!

Thanks for watching!!! Yay that is great :) Thank you for sharing this info with us.. hopefully it will help others out as well. Did you choose the same type of cruise as your first one? You will LOVE Jamaica.. I recommend getting an actual excursion booked for that port and not just winging it. Also, try to snorkel in either Cozumel or Grand Cayman. It is breath taking!
@shellydisney30186 жыл бұрын
Disney Cruisers I didn’t book the same category as the first one. The first cruise was a 3 day on the Dream, we booked concierge. On the 7 day it would have been $16K, that’s INSANE!! Thank you for the tip about Jamaica, I will do that. Keep the vlogs coming😊

This is great! I wish they could do the same thing with points from DVC! I don’t think you can book any cruise thru DVC on board the ship

Disney has made it easier with the place holder. They used to sell you a 3 day cruise 18 months out and tell you to call in and rebook when you decide on your date. Filling out the card now has even made it easier. I like to drop of the card first day the box is out.

Awesome video and such good information. My question. Can I get two placeholders at at the same time or am I only allowed to do one at a time and have my wife get the other one
@Wildbarley5 жыл бұрын
Each placeholder has a unique reservation number, so you should be able to utilize multiples. Now for a multi-stateroom on same itinerary placeholder situation I believe it would need two distinct adult names, one for each.

any advice for our second eastern cruise

I would say to get off the ship at port. It is soooo beautiful there! Have you watched my video on why I like Eastern better than western cruises?

How much of a discount do FL res get? I'm just doing the math.
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
It depends. For a family of 2 adults and 2 kids I have saved between $800 and $2000. It really depends on how much they need the ship filled.. and which itinerary.

I wonder how the placeholders work for Canadian residents. We get 25% of select sailings (probably because our exchange rate is so bad) but I wonder if we would still get the additional 10% discount!
@DisneyCruisers5 жыл бұрын
I am not sure, but I know you cannot stack Florida rates with placeholders. If you google that and add disboards at the end, I am sure you can find the info in a forum :)
@mommymarine17566 жыл бұрын
So do you get the Florida resident rate even when they sail from Texas, SD, or Louisiana?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
Only with sailings from San Juan and Florida (Port Canaveral and Miami) .. I wish it were everywhere ...
@BethP7815 жыл бұрын
As a FL resident, if I book a placeholder, then see a better deal with FL resident rate, can I have both on my account? Or will they make me cancel the placeholder?
@DisneyCruisers5 жыл бұрын
You can only have one. So you would have to cancel the reservation with the placeholder... then rebook the cruise with the resident rate 😃
@kellygirl69116 жыл бұрын
So, if we already know we want to book the future Cruise and the exact Cruise we want, we can book it on the ship and still get the 10% off and the $100 ??🙃

Great video! So question, can you combine the placeholder with the military rate? Is it kinda the same thing with the Florida resident rate? Thank you!
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
If you have a placeholder on a cruise and then a military rate comes out, you can cancel your placeholder and then use that $250 you get back toward your deposit on the military rate - as long as you are not passed the paid in full date. I know this info is accurate as of last fall. I have never done it personally though. usually Florida and military are better discounts than placeholders.

Idea: If I want to take a 7 day cruise; book a quick 2 day cruise and book the 7 day on a placeholder.(Getting that discount and credit) What do you think? 🤔
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
I think yes! People do that with the 3 nights, but if you live on the west coast and can get a 2 night.. that would be even better!
@kimbailey17546 жыл бұрын
Ok, so if my husband and I are doing a Disney Cruise just us, but we know that we will want to do a family cruise, we can go on our couples cruise and do a placeholder for 2 rooms while we are there? We have 5 kids and my sister who all live in our household, so we know we will need 2 staterooms for our family. But can we do 2 placeholders even though the names on the second stateroom won't be us, they'll be my sister and our 2 oldest kids? Am I even making sense?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
Yes this made sense :) The rules state 2 placeholders per address. So you and your husband can buy two placeholders.. so that means you would have to buy two staterooms on the same future cruise. Which it sounds like you are doing. The names are nontransferrable though, which just means that you or your husband must be on the first room and must travel for sure. The second room can be anyone. It is best to try and write down who will be in that room from the start but it’s not necessary just makes it easier once you book your actual future cruise. I have heard of some cast members telling guests incorrect information while on board. Is your sister over 18? That will matter. She will have to be. Also, once you book, one adult has to stay the same in the room, so if for some reason you book and your sister is the only adult, and then she can’t go.. you have an issue.
@kimbailey17546 жыл бұрын
Disney Cruisers Yes, my sister is over 18. She is in law school, so that's why she is living with us. We know for sure that it will be our family of 7 plus my sister for our future family cruise. This was really helpful info to have. Thanks! My husband and I are taking our first Disney cruise in June 2019. I've never been on a cruise and I'm prone to motion sickness, but taking a Disney cruise is my dream. So my husband and I decided to try a short cruise just us to celebrate our anniversary and to "test the waters" and see how I would hold up on a cruise before we spend a small fortune on a family cruise for everyone. But assuming it goes well, we will definitely be taking the whole family for the next cruise. So if we could get the benefits of the placeholder for our future family cruise while we are on our couples cruise, that would be worthwhile!
@cellycrystal6 жыл бұрын
So It’s $250 per stateroom regardless of how many guests?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
Correct. It also does not matter which category you end up booking (except concierge).
@cellycrystal6 жыл бұрын
Disney Cruisers awesome thank you!!
@theycallmethecakequeen82356 жыл бұрын
I'm confused. Is the deposit $250 or 10% or both?
@DisneyCruisers6 жыл бұрын
The place holder costs you $250 which you pay there on the ship. Your overall total cost of the trip is 10% less. Then... later down the road when you book your next cruise, you use your placeholder. You will only need to put down a 10% deposit on cruises 7 nights or longer. The $250 you already paid when you were on the ship making your placeholder, that will be counted towards your deposit. So if you know you are definitely cruising Disney again within 2 years, it is a great idea to get one. You will also get on board credit on your next cruise. Yay for free money!!!!

Do you have to call in for Florida Resident rate? Most cruise lines ask as you are booking online but I didn't see that when booking.
