Honestly I'd like to see a game come out from Harmonix that's a conducting game for a virtual orchestra that uses higher-quality MIDI to adjust for tempo and dynamics like Wii Music did. Not only would they have a ton of songs from public domain classical compositions, but there could be a desktop app or website tool that could allow people to make their own compositions and share on the game for others to play with like the GH Studios or Clone Hero (making it user-made songs would hopefully take liability away from the developer for the inevitable scores of copyrighted songs that would be made for the game by users).

Anyone can get acclimated to artificial locomotion. You just have to do it right. Take the HMD off when you begin to feel uncomfortable, come back when it has completely resided (but don't take too long of a break, like a few days, or your acclimation will restart). Takes a few weeks to a month to get acclimated, opening the door to the best VR has to offer in very intense immersive experiences.

It super does, at least in my anecdotal experience, with the exception of a few very badly designed games of course. Every single person I've run through it with motion sickness, if they tough out just a bit of windlands they get used to it, but that bit of windlands is a real process sometimes.

@@ashenreality410 no, i literally like 95% of what i try in vr. Heck, Thrill of the Fight is part of my weekly workout routine, i fight twelve rounds a week in vr to complement my cardio when my leg joints are too fucked from cycling. boneworks is the exception. it's terrible and nauseating. their choice do "simulate a physical body" is the exact thing that made VR unbearable for most people and most devs try their hardest to avoid. i have pretty high tolerance for vr sickness and that game is the one to make me have a migraine every time i try it. Not to mention the huge tutorial part is annoying and i did not enjoy the game itself either for as far as i had played. i was coming from half life alyx with huge expectations because people said "boneworks is even better!" (even though alyx was freaking amazing), and then when i got to it, it was one of the biggest letdowns in my gaming life. It has this dumb policy that "everything has to be simulated" and they don't care what has to be sacrificed for that. The interactivity is cool and all, but it's definitively not worth the tradeoffs. not only it's not NEARLY as good as alyx (understandable, indie title vs huge blockbuster system seller), it actually made me feel terrible for a whole 30 hours AFTER I STOPPED PLAYING IT. i hate this game with all my might.

I was sitting here confused while Andy was explaining before I just went "Oh! He gets motion sick." My dad gets that too, growing up our thing together was video games (by which I mean he'd watch me play) but he'd have to close his eyes if the camera moved around a lot or he'd get sick

When I first tried sliding motion it made me sick too. But I exposed myself to it in small doses, and my body started to get used to it. Now I can do it for 30 minutes to an hour (depending on how intense I'm playing) before I get sick. So, if you're someone who got sick the first time, don't necessarily give up right away! You may be able to build up at least a small tolerance.
@DrLanky4 жыл бұрын
i remember boneworks had a warning that people who were very experienced with vr should only play. exposure therapy is real, kinda like riding a bike. you're first really shit at it and dont like it at all but then you get used to it and its actually pretty fun. i dont really think people who just bought vr for boneworks with no previous experience have a right to complain, the warnings are there and everything but thats IMO.

Half-Life: Alyx is some of the best I've felt playing a video game and some of the worst I've felt playing a video game. But then I try playing for more than 45 mins at a time and I'm basically bedridden for the next 24 hours

After watching this video multiple times I realize the bit where Noodle tilts the chair when IceCreamSandwich tries to sit down is actually a perfect analogy for why the fuckups in boneworks suck (ie hooking yourself with a crowbar, fucking up a gun reload, or missing when holstering your gun). It’s because you expect a certain outcome, but you don’t get that for a reason that feels more or less outside of your control because there’s not as much feedback as in real life.

Not gonna lie, the weird insistence in every Honey promo that they definitely don't sell your personal info makes me a little suspicious

It's common boilerplate in the industry. However, Honey also guarantees that they don't access your webcam during the night to watch you sleep, and can prove they have had zero correspondence with the Nicaraguan government, so no need to worry about that.
@alexbaker15693 жыл бұрын
It's the same reason they tell you how they make their money(take a cut of the savings from the seller) because as we all know if something is free there's a catch, and they want us to know that that catch isn't us having our data stolen
