I would as long as no one died inside (Biohazard cars no bueno).

If the car was new enough, and if there had not been any deaths inside the car I would consider it. There is no structural damage, needs new body parts and some windows. But knowing the prices these days... Most likely will fetch more than MSRP.
@maraudingmerc9381

For the drivetrains, maybe. You could do a lot with them. Then part out anything that didn't have bullet holes in it and scrap the rest. I don't know that it would be worth flipping them compared to what you can get for the drivetrain alone.
@Duckswag87
@Duckswag87 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the discount and if it was worth it. If you got a heck of a discount on one of those trackhawks or really nice cars it could be worth it. Also as long as the bullets didn’t destroy the engine or dash electronics
@maraudingmerc9381
@maraudingmerc9381 2 жыл бұрын
@@Duckswag87 I'm just thinking about how insanely high people are bidding on cars from Copart these days. I saw a lot of cars selling for well over their already inflated resale value, probably due to international bidders running up prices (and who knows if they're actually buying the cars or if they're just pricing others out of the auction and refusing to pay). If someone got a deal, it might be worth putting 10-15k into reconditioning the vehicle, but even if you sold it at sticker price you'd probably make your money back faster (and easier) just parting it out.

Some interesting stuff, gentlemen! I worked 20 years as a Forensic Firearms Examiner and you are correct about the trajectory on that driver's side damage (rear to front at a low angle, tearing the metal). Bullet hole diameters in metal aren't useful for caliber determination. The metal typically craters inward before the bullet passes through and that makes the hole look bigger than the actual bullet diameter. We've had our share of this type of crime here in Los Angeles.

@@nc_skillszz5263 huh? 1911's are usually 45acp, but can come in 9mm,38 super, 10mm and so on. . Glocks come in all sorts of calibers from 22lr-10mm and many in between. As for 14 mm that's typically a machine gun round.

I had my truck stolen years ago and they stripped it and tried to burn it with a roll of shop towels I had in there. They lit the roll of towels threw it on the front seat and shut the door. After the roll burned, the fire smothered from lack of oxygen, and the damage inside looked a lot like the inside of that Camaro and the SHO.

That wiper thing is creepy. I had a used car which was pretty nice, but we finally figured out that the wipers would make one sweep occasionally, for apparently no reason. I thought the switch was bad, but one day we were on vacation and the sweep of the wipers always happened when we passed a Burger King...no other time, and it would sweep only one time. My kids would see the wipers go, and look as we passed the BK. They started to keep a list. They told me the car was haunted.

I love all of your episodes but the evidence technician in me loved this episode. Noticed at about the 15:38 mark of the video, the side of the Jeep Grand Cherokee center console has what looks like some liquid spatter (maybe blood?) on it. Hard to tell due to the dark color of the material. Some of the smaller caliber rounds that went through the vehicle had to have some power to get through the metal. The ones at the back of the Jeep, on the inside, looked to have a smaller diameter. May have been 9mm although a round that’s becoming more popular is the FN 5.7x28 round. They are like little rifle rounds for a handgun. Great video as always, Alex.
@jasonswift7098
@jasonswift7098 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say that liquid splatter is coffee or something not blood, which would show darker and be more shiny as its thicker, I'd also say maybe it was a semi-automatic smaller caliber round that was fire out of that Grand Cherokee L

Yep auto theft is huge up here in Toronto/GTA. At times vehicles are being recovered and some low level thief is caught and charged but many of the people running these operations manage to get these vehicles out to the port of Montreal and those cars are off to overseas places like Africa and Asia. Weirdly enough it's not always super high end cars. Lexus RX and Honda CRVs are the top stolen at the moment. Before it was vehicles like Ford F150s and Cadillac Escalades.

But do you, as an ordinary person get the access a famous You Tuber has? I've seen posts that these auction places have very restrictive hours to view vehicles, you definitely won't bring your own vehicle in the yard, and in some you're escorted by an employee. No jump packs or readers allowed either. If I'm wrong about this, please correct this information. There are also videos telling us why we shouldn't be buying auction cars.

It makes it difficult to buy when you want the car for specific parts... You may be happy with damage in certain parts of the car, so long as the parts you're after have escaped unscathed. But without detailed descriptions and photos, you obviously can't tell until you take it home. Hiding the actual condition seems like a very poor business strategy for the market they're in.

I'll add a gratuitous comment. If you've lived in a place your whole life, how can you know if it's a great place to live? You have nothing to compare it to. I grew up downstate, and I've never once regretted leaving Illinois 45 years ago.

My friend was the longest serving member of staff at Porsche UK. I always used to car "Porsche" until met him many many years ago and he corrected me (sometime in the late '70's). The correct pronunciation is "Porscher". BYW did you knlow that although VW group own Porsche cars, Porsche holdings own the entire VW group?

It shouldn’t be that big of a surprise to see bullet holes in a lot of these cars,considering most of them were coming from the Chicago area where they can and have had over a 100 shootings in a single weekend. The only thing I’m shocked about is we didn’t see more of them that were shot up.

Do you guys understand how weird and alien it is to the rest of the world to see a country where finding bullet ridden cars is somewhat normal?

Yeah, that's a product of Chicago's "Gun free zone". Works well don't it? Unlike here in GA. Everyone one of us is carrying, a lot less crime lol.

It’s weird for most of America also. Chicago is a violent, politically corrupt, expensive dumpster of a city that has lost about 900k residents since the late 60’s. The last few years have been particularly bad. We records in 2021 with over 1800 carjackings and over 200 shootings just on our expressways between passengers in vehicles. We have children as young as 8 committing armed robberies and 12 year olds carjacking people. I’ve had family here for over 100 years and I’ve had enough.

Lori Lightfoot is my favourite political personality on the planet... I love everything about her, even her Yelp reviews are like satirical performance art. People like her making it in to positions of power are what America is all about. I'd kill to interview her some day, but sadly my skin is the incorrect colour. A hero I'll have to admire from afar

Well Beetlejuice seems to love the sandwiches at Conte Di Savoia on Taylor St. it is in there a lot for lunch if you want to try and interview it or stop and say hi. Maybe try saying it’s name 3 times and it will go away.

Highland Park is at least 25 miles from Chicago. We did have at least 4 mass shootings here in Chicago between mid May and mid July that the politicians and national media ignored. Chicago has been a horrible place to live the last few years. Worse than most people think.

@@mexicanspec regardless as a lifelong resident of Chicago it is a horrible place to raise kids. Public schools are terrible, crime is everywhere, weather is terrible and it’s expensive. I was 14 the first time someone tried to kill me, and I largely avoided trouble and my neighborhood was safer than most.

I'm guessing 9mm on the Track Hawk since it's the most common pistol round in the world. I've shot lots of sheet metal on old cars and depending on the metal, the holes all look different even using the same round.
