If the car was new enough, and if there had not been any deaths inside the car I would consider it. There is no structural damage, needs new body parts and some windows. But knowing the prices these days... Most likely will fetch more than MSRP.
@maraudingmerc93812 жыл бұрын
For the drivetrains, maybe. You could do a lot with them. Then part out anything that didn't have bullet holes in it and scrap the rest. I don't know that it would be worth flipping them compared to what you can get for the drivetrain alone.
@Duckswag872 жыл бұрын
Depends on the discount and if it was worth it. If you got a heck of a discount on one of those trackhawks or really nice cars it could be worth it. Also as long as the bullets didn’t destroy the engine or dash electronics
@maraudingmerc93812 жыл бұрын
@@Duckswag87 I'm just thinking about how insanely high people are bidding on cars from Copart these days. I saw a lot of cars selling for well over their already inflated resale value, probably due to international bidders running up prices (and who knows if they're actually buying the cars or if they're just pricing others out of the auction and refusing to pay). If someone got a deal, it might be worth putting 10-15k into reconditioning the vehicle, but even if you sold it at sticker price you'd probably make your money back faster (and easier) just parting it out.
@xxBlazinBobxx2 жыл бұрын
Some interesting stuff, gentlemen! I worked 20 years as a Forensic Firearms Examiner and you are correct about the trajectory on that driver's side damage (rear to front at a low angle, tearing the metal). Bullet hole diameters in metal aren't useful for caliber determination. The metal typically craters inward before the bullet passes through and that makes the hole look bigger than the actual bullet diameter. We've had our share of this type of crime here in Los Angeles.

That wiper thing is creepy. I had a used car which was pretty nice, but we finally figured out that the wipers would make one sweep occasionally, for apparently no reason. I thought the switch was bad, but one day we were on vacation and the sweep of the wipers always happened when we passed a Burger King...no other time, and it would sweep only one time. My kids would see the wipers go, and look as we passed the BK. They started to keep a list. They told me the car was haunted.

I love all of your episodes but the evidence technician in me loved this episode. Noticed at about the 15:38 mark of the video, the side of the Jeep Grand Cherokee center console has what looks like some liquid spatter (maybe blood?) on it. Hard to tell due to the dark color of the material. Some of the smaller caliber rounds that went through the vehicle had to have some power to get through the metal. The ones at the back of the Jeep, on the inside, looked to have a smaller diameter. May have been 9mm although a round that’s becoming more popular is the FN 5.7x28 round. They are like little rifle rounds for a handgun. Great video as always, Alex.
@jasonswift70982 жыл бұрын
I'd say that liquid splatter is coffee or something not blood, which would show darker and be more shiny as its thicker, I'd also say maybe it was a semi-automatic smaller caliber round that was fire out of that Grand Cherokee L

Yep auto theft is huge up here in Toronto/GTA. At times vehicles are being recovered and some low level thief is caught and charged but many of the people running these operations manage to get these vehicles out to the port of Montreal and those cars are off to overseas places like Africa and Asia. Weirdly enough it's not always super high end cars. Lexus RX and Honda CRVs are the top stolen at the moment. Before it was vehicles like Ford F150s and Cadillac Escalades.

It’s total BS how Copart hides or misrepresentation of cars too, I buy from copart and I was actually told by guys who take pictures they are instructed to to hide damage and airbags in photos . Copart should do the right thing and show ALL damage so buyers know what they are buying versus how things are

It makes it difficult to buy when you want the car for specific parts... You may be happy with damage in certain parts of the car, so long as the parts you're after have escaped unscathed. But without detailed descriptions and photos, you obviously can't tell until you take it home. Hiding the actual condition seems like a very poor business strategy for the market they're in.
@RedRocketC62 жыл бұрын

crazy thing is i know the person who was shot in this car! the car was registered in his girlfriend's name and the shooter thought it was his girlfriend driving when he was shot at. he was hit in the head and the stomach, but he is living, and the shooter was caught.

@@mexicanspec regardless as a lifelong resident of Chicago it is a horrible place to raise kids. Public schools are terrible, crime is everywhere, weather is terrible and it’s expensive. I was 14 the first time someone tried to kill me, and I largely avoided trouble and my neighborhood was safer than most.

I'm guessing 9mm on the Track Hawk since it's the most common pistol round in the world. I've shot lots of sheet metal on old cars and depending on the metal, the holes all look different even using the same round.
