I love the look of the piece, but I do find it odd that they introduced it for the 1989/1992 live action Batman. The white eyes aren't accurate to the movie, so it's strange that they introduced it here and not in a wave of comic-inspired sets. That said, it's still a great piece to have, and I hope they make it in some different colours down the line, like dark blue and regular blue.

I was thinking around40 usd, because its 2023 and its batman so its gonna by pricey, 40 is pushing it to the edge of ok price for a car, but 50 bucks? nah, I can get similar size Batmobile for 40 and it will have more details

This is feels like a updated version of a 1989 Batman Batmobile a few years that we got. It was $35-40 bucks. It was a simpler build but same style of Batmobile,which included the same Batman and Joker. Which they would do Penquin,Twoface,Riddler,Catwoman,Poison Ivy Lego sets.

Last '89 batmobile we got was a GWP that wasn't cheap on the secondary market and it was the first official '89 set we got for minifigs. The was a $30 homage set lego made but it was more an amalgamation of several batmobiles.

The gift one that came with the big batmobile a few years ago is almost identical to this, and that was tagged as $30 msrp by lego. It also came with a stand. No minifigures though. I think 35 would have been a good price, fine at 40, but 48 dollars is a ripoff. I bought it anyways though lol. It's a great set just way overpriced. I'd love to be able to understand why the batwing is $10 cheaper, it actually seems bigger.

@PhoenixFyre oh,yeah,I got the $30 Batmobile and I think it was 2020-2021 or maybe even a 2019. I thought that was the 1989 Batman Batmobile. Looks just like it and comes with the Batman and Joker.

This incarnation of the 1989 batmobile in LEGO is awesome for a kids toy. However as a adult collector of LEGO myself, the designers missed one critical detail and that is the negative curved slope that goes from the wheel well to the back of the cockpit. The machine guns are cool and the mechanism to flip them up is genius and that bat cowl is a must for custom work. I do understand that not everything LEGO makes has to be 100% accurate given the fact that it's a kids toy but I do appreciate the effort they go to make these models/playsets enjoyable.

This is like a souped-up Speed Champions model, but is the price of two Speed Champion models. Should definitely be closer to $35.

I agree with Jang…the set needed to be more. I mean at that price point, I need the Batmobile to be an accurate two seater with the Vicky Vale and Bob the Goon minifigures added to the set.

Considering Batman's gadget is from a specific scene, it might have made sense to have Vicki Vale and maybe even Bob as minifigures in this set to help justify the price. They were in that scene too.

Coming from an aviation mechanic, the side I takes are most likely for the afterburner (at least theoretically) those jet engines need massive amounts of air

I'm not a lego enthusiast as much as many of the other commenters here may be, but I bought this set and I like the completed set quite a lot. I do agree that 48 bucks is pretty steep for what you get. That said, judging by my Target run the other day, Lego sets in general are all a bit pricey these days

I actually thought that Batmobile was the same as in the new Batcave but it’s actually different. It’s has a boot, different air intakes and the control sticker is larger.

this is the current trend of lego,less for more,especially for the licenced sets,lego is rapidly becoming solely for adults and collectors as realitically how many kids can afford to buy it? and going even further than that if your a fan of multiple genres how many non collectors can afford to keep up?

It's very interesting what we get here for $48 vs what we got for $30 in 76188 (7+ Classic Batmobile), which comes with a plaque and stand. I will buy most of the minifigs from the shadow box once it's been out a while to pair with this set.

I had this in hand at Target but decided it wasn’t worth it even with my Team Member and RedCard discounts. After watching this review…I don’t feel much different. I like it but not for that price

Not gonna lie, the combination of that hair piece for Joker, and that weird grapple gun piece, makes this feel a lot more Arkham than Keaton. It’s probably just the case that a lot of the Batman mythology resembles itself. However that grapple gun really reminds me of the Arkham Bat claw.

1989 heavily influenced pretty much every Batman thing after that. He didn't even use a grapnel gun before the movie. In the comics he mostly used a hook and rope to rappel. The specific grapple gun in this set I think is supposed to be a (poor) representation of the line launcher from that movie since they both have gold and the regular grappel doesn't.

To me this is pretty much the same as the Penguin Arctic roller that was £30 in 2018 (Big car + 2 figs). I don’t think a few years of inflation justifies this being 50% dearer.

I think it looks good. Set is expensive, yes, but looks good and I want it, while I am not even a particular Batman fan. It captures the look quite well. Not as "Colani"-design (rounded edges) as the original, but it is Lego version. With superhero movies I am much more a Spiderman fan and with there were any current good-looking Spidey-related sets at this size.

I just found this last night in a supermarket for half off where I am and that's a much more comfortable price than £43! Great build, very dense and solid, but shouldn't retail for more than £35 or $40, the same as what the smaller Tumbler cost when that came out. It's just too small to cost nearly 50, compared to other far larger sets of that cost that, like the now retired playset version of the X-wing.

Ohh I didn't know the cowl was dual molded. That's a really, really good step forward. I get some people won't like the shaping, but I think it's worth it. And now every cowl has a different ear height. Definitely getting one of these as soon as it's in a set I'm interested in

Great review. Good set. Horrible price. Especially when you compare this to the small Tumbler set and Classic Batmobile. The bean counters must be high fivin' each other while poppin' bottles in the club as we speak!!

Had a first with this batmobile set. A missing decal. The #1 computer console decal...just wasn't on the sheet. (Sheet was in the book, completely undamaged, but the decal wasn't present)

I too bought this set & the Batwing both based on Burtonverse cuz they are the only closest things from that series not expensive to buy & to have the Burtonverse Batman & Joker, and in case anyone wonders, yes I too have the Nolanverse Batman sets as well as the Snyderverse sets from Dawn of Justice

I love this batmobile and sure it's too expensive but lego guys are not supind and know if you want 89 batmobile you have to buy expensive shadow box or also expensive old GWP limited batmobile so they charge you extra because they can. hate that approche but at the same time I love the final product, just too bad it lacks one or two additional minifgs at least Vicki Vale and maybe Gordon or Dent.

It is a dense build but you’re basically pay $50 for one Lego car. The Tumbler came with two figs, was bigger, was only $40, and it came out just a few years ago. I noticed this set is still sitting on shelves cause it’s over priced. They should’ve had another Joker goon come with it or added a Joker car and made it an actual ‘chase set’.

I JUST BUILT THS KIT. And sure enough, you can remove the knob and the shaft for actuating the guns, leaving a simple hole on the batmobile. So store these items until you want them. A simple "fix".

It is a great set. I got mine first day. Two caveats -- as I have the 1966, I HAD to have this so while it was not "money no object" I was willing to pay a bit more -- and I had $20 VIP points so I got mine for $40 Can. But, as I said a great model and a fun build

I definitely agree with Jang, this set is very underwhelming, especially considering the price. What I want to add to the discussion is that I’m not really a fan of the new cowl. The dual molded eyes sound cool on paper, but the execution is lacking for me. It looks like they tried to go for a middle ground between the oldest two cowls, and it doesn’t really work.

My one complaint with the model is the knob used to pop up the machine guns which is an easy enough fix just swap it and the technic bar holding it for the one used on the opposite side

. This set is $80 in my country - I can buy a double pack of Speed Champions for $20 less than this, and that has TWO cars, both also built to a level of high detail. They also almost always introduce new pieces as well, such as unusual windscreen pieces, or new SNOT pieces. Lego must be smoking something to think people will pay the full price for this thing.

I appreciate rhe sentiment of makinga dual-molded cowl, but I don't like this one at all; it just looks goofy. It's very fat and squashed at the same time. It's such a shame they've been screwing up the cowls lately, the 2007 and 2012 cowl molds were basically perfect...

That is a really well done set. An almost perfect LEGO rendition of the 89 Batmobile. It's my favorite Batmobile and I love Batman and Batman Returns. But $48 for this is ludicrous!

Im so annoyed that this and the batwing have both been made regular batman sets instead of keeping at least one as a flash set, Lego snubbed every DC character not called Batman for years and it’s getting beyond frustrating

I bought two of the last Batmobiles on clearance (sets 76239 & 76181) before getting this 1989 Batmobile, so it equaled out the prices. I modded the pop up cannons to be attached by technic pins to get rid of the side cog to give it a cleaner looking vehicle. They don't pop up anymore but it's not a feature I would ever use anyway.
