Lego Battle of Gettysburg - Custer’s Cavalry Charge - stopmotion

After pushing Meade’s army south and striking all along the Union line, General Robert E. Lee attempts a massive assault to break the Federal defenses and turn public opinion in the North against the war. Key to this plan is the Confederate Cavalry, led by J.E.B Stuart, who would strike the Union rear and exploit any successes made by Pickett’s charge. Left to defend against this Cavalry onslaught is a small force led by Brigadier Generals David M. Gregg and George A. Custer, who would later become famous from his stand at the Battle of Little Bighorn in the American West.

Spencer carbines, which were lever action rifles used by some Union cavalrymen during the civil war. The skirmishers of the 5th Michigan cavalry were equipped with them at Gettysburg which gave them a significant advantage over the confederate skirmishers.
