King Cetewayo, not wanting to invoke the ire of the British more than necesssary, ordered his warriors to only kill British military personal, not civilians. The fact that all the British survivors were officers, artillery men, or other personal wearing blue uniforms is believed to be because the Zulu warriors took that order a bit too literally.

The Zulu even filed their front teeth that make them look like cannables, other tribes of Africa called them NeNum (Great Eaters) and the Zulus are so fierce and deadly, during the Colonial Era, Slave Traders ignore the Zulus with fear.
