they did make a k'nex blaster series where you have to build it. these things are incredibly fragile though and will just fall apart with anything less than casual plinking, don't know how this compares though...

A better gear ratio will help the afterburner. Big gear on the motors, small gears on the wheels, might make it hit 30 ft

It would work way better with bricks/technic beams as ammo. That thing has the most common bolt action mechanism used by lego gun builders such as myself.

@The foam Farmer Depends on the power. I made a rifle similar to this but with a internal magazine which could hold four shots of 5-hole lego technic beam. It could pierce a soda can at the muzzle. That thing was terrifying, wouldn't like to get hit by it:D

Cool idea, but I think if you added a few gears for mechanical advantage you could get a set of flywheels shooting darts as hard as a high-end modded stryfe, but it's a nice start for an interesting concept build

I do not think it would work. Adding gears gives speed at the cost of torque. Ot would like result in jams.

I think if you use the pullback motors for the LEGO racers, you can manually prime the flywheels and they can prbably rotate faster than the afterburners you have on there.

My friends and I tried to make a Lego flywheel blaster. Unfortunately the motors didn't have the power to launch much without stopping due to friction, and it was very disappointing when they did go.

You should use LEGO gears to make the wheels on the afterburner spin faster

The motors would be fine. The issue is that when you add gears you gain speed at the cost of torque. Odds are if you added gears it would not longer have enough torque and would jam.
