I never understood why LEGO packaged the IR receiver separately from the rest of the Power Functions components

Its due the fact that two closely packed Rc circuit can cancel each other's frequency and sometimes greatly enhance it to micro celluler level that can change the biology of lego bricks and the mini figures can obtain conciousness.hence come to life and overtake our world :).
