good seeing the trains running. the copper foil tape works, but it degrades faster than normal 9v track. half sections are probably its best utilisation
@sneezyferret64829 күн бұрын
I've had copper tape on my track for about the past 4 months and it's still working fine.
@BevinsBricksWorld9 күн бұрын
@sneezyferret6482 It only wears out with heavy use and still only after long heavy use. 4 months is great, should get a good solid year out of it

i love those ballast tracks, they worked really well in my wife's village and saved so much time over doing them by hand
@BevinsBricksWorld9 күн бұрын
Glad to hear you like them, I love them as well as they save time and money on parts. Especially on the curves.
@salvation73629 күн бұрын
I've seen too many people try to make the road bend to fit those angles and it ends up looking very busy because of all the little parts needed to fill in the weird spaces. It's very cleaver to make the transition something like a crosswalk to help blend the two angles together more seamlessly. 😃
@BevinsBricksWorld9 күн бұрын
Thanks, yeah trying something new, even though I know the new road plates are not very popular. To me the new road plates give a lot more options.

Fx tracks sells 8 studs tracks! If it is too expensive, you can buy the plastic ones (like TrixBrix) and add the copper tape, so you would not have to worry about cutting the track and shape it to make it compatible with the existing track. Alternatively, you may want to look at track geometry, so that you get compatibility at 45 degrees with standard tracks. I think that requires 17 straight tracks at 45 degrees to have an almost-perfect alignment.
@darthgbc3638 күн бұрын
Add a section of Flexi-track every so often. It's 4 studs long & the train should be able to roll over that span if it has 2 motors or pick-up boogies. Jumper wires might need to be added. Maybe copper tape will work on Flexi-track. There are places to buy odd size track.

This looks great! Really curious to see how that angle will look with buildings on it. Also, a note regarding the train track - that little S curve along the back of the table could be moved closer to the curve where you need to make the 8 long segment of track. Or, you could possibly remove that S curve altogether if you add an 8 (or possibly even 4) long segment of track into the straight section that is in front of where the Assembly Square is right now. Regardless though, this looks great and I’m excited to see the next update!

You get those small coupling tracks with train tracks. You can use those instead of cutting tracks up.

Hey Ken, yeah life keeps getting in the way so I dont get to build as much as I like. But I have been doing a lot digitally so I can just build when I get free time. I have about 6 buildings roughly designed in studio now that I plan to add to this section of the city.

Trix brix has those 8 stud long track pieces. Saves you a cut and they are molded parts. Not 3d printed, meaning they have anti studs. And love the angled road! Look forward to seeing the buildings and details come together around it
@BevinsBricksWorld7 күн бұрын
Actually figured out a way to connect them back together without needing any special pieces. Had to sacrifice the back corner though.

Why not just buy a pack of S8 straights from Fx Track and use one to fill that 8 stud gap? They're not cheap, but they'll last a lot longer than that copper tape on the all-plastic track will.

@@BevinsBricksWorld I’m actually cleaning up in the lego room now… had a break for a couple of years but I’ll always go back to it. Really following the ufo/uap news in that time, there’s been a lot happening, finally.. great to see its being taken seriously with Congressional hearings and whistleblowers coming forward. We’re about the same age I’m gonna guess you’ve been following it?

That looks pretty awesome. I like that angle there a lot! I have a question about your 9V connection to the tracks. Are you using only one connection point on the tracks, or are there several, which are all connected to the Lego speed regulation? Just curious because I´m planning to have a bigger loop in my city some time in the future and I´m not sure if I need more power connection points because its too big. Cheers, Thomas
@BevinsBricksWorld7 күн бұрын
Hello and thanks, for the track power connection, I only have one connection point. Sometimes it can be helpful to add a second on the opposite side of the track as well. But for me the 1 connection works good enough :)
@MorristheMinor8 күн бұрын
I know you've talked about this before, but is the area opposite the car dealers going to be where the residential area is going?
