Don't move the tunnel entrance, the medieval tower/stairs is a great idea. Always cool to have some old building in a "modern" city. The back to back solution for the modulars is the best IMO. Looks great & opens a lot of possibilities for future expansion. You can definitely put a train shed at the end of your double track, allowing you to put more train carriages. Love your city in its new shape, keep on building ❤

Here's an off the wall idea: Create a cloud cover for the mountain tops. Have them lead to a 'cloud city' on the top shelves. Then decorate the top shelves with Lego clouds across fronts.
@MrBookieboo8 ай бұрын
Now that’s a great idea!

@@MrBookieboo Thanks. At end of the video, I got fixated on the mountains in the back (again lol). I saw the top shelves were almost touching, and it led to the idea.

I really like having the double tunnel jutting out a bit. It gives a bit more depth than having it line up with the retaining wall, and it gives more space to play with on the upper level.

10/10 love the back-to-back look! I would space them apart a bit more if you can and add an alleyway between them with lots of foliage and potted plants. Definitely keep the tunnel bumped out because it adds visual interest. I like the idea of a medieval stairway to mix old with new. Disney Castle I agree should be moved to the corner. I like the idea of Ninjago-Land being close to the Asian-looking building in the mountains. That would create a nice flow from the ninjago area to the modular area. As for the trains, I have no clue yet 😂 But if you make the tracks stop near the window area of your room you could add a train station.

I like how you had it with the extra higher level of shops, but I get what you are saying about the ugly back sides of those modulars. However, what if they weren’t ugly? What if you moc’d up a cool back alley scene, then below that an underground subway scene. Maybe below that a top secret bunker where they are working on some alien technology. This way you can have your cake and eat it too. The cool money shot from the front with all those modulars on display, but an equally cool back alley underground scene hiding behind.

Interesting idea. I’m not 100% sold on the back to back setup. I might try some of this, thanks!

@@MrBookieboo For what it's worth, of all the lego cities I've seen here on KZbin, yours has been one of my favorite, mainly because you don't just put everything on a table, you experiment with height. The different levels makes your city a bit more unique compared to what other people are doing. Plus seeing all those modulars in one shot is seriously impressive. Either way, I'm sure whatever you do, it will be amazing.

Hmmm - I'd go with making the tunnels flush I reckon... Model railroad trick - place a little mirror against the wall under the vehicle tunnel. If you build a car with two rear ends and two different colours, the reflected car will look like it is driving under the bridge and 'through' the wall...

I would go for the back to back modular layout. it gives the room more perspective. if it’s just 1 direction of modulars, visitors will be motivated to go in further and look at your city from a different angle 🙂

True, very true. I want the room to be more interactive.

For the gaps between buildings e.g. next to the Emporium, here are some ideas. 1.I find that a nice tree can help to block the view of a blank wall. 2. You could put a facade building behind. 3.Stagger the buildings so it's harder to see between them from most viewing angles. 4. Replace the Emporium with a straight modular so there isn't a gap. You asked about the beach area. I find the long retaining wall above it rather monotonous. So you could, for example, raise up the part that is currently green next to the tunnel, and make that slope down to 'retain' the sea, either as a cliff or a more gentle slope, then you can provide a nice way down from the town onto the beach It would also make the train tunnel more naturally go underground. For the peninsula, i've found you can make quite an interesting alley/street between a row of modulars. But have you considered making your peninsular a bit wider so there's room for something more than just a double row of buildings? Like maybe not having them all face the same way? Imho tge Disney Castle needs to go on top of a mountain (it was based on Neuschwanstein, after all) so if you are considering remodelling your mountains, why not 'flatten' one of then sufficiently to put the castle on it? Then you can use the castle space for something else (or, something Elsa). Lastly, have you considered putting the Ninjago district at the back, at the foot of the mountains? I think they will look squashed in that corner. No idea about the trains, sorry. Except to say that you probably need to decide whether they are there largely for display or for operations. For the former, you just need a loop (if you want continuous running) and not much else, although you could set up a forth-and-back end-to-end system without one.. For the latter you need to think what operations you want to run on what type of trains and design a train layout accordingly.

Definitely love the back to back modular setup...& U're right, the view is impactful...I believe some more facades would enhance the city further...the transition from the peninsula to the main city could use a concourse/train 🚉 station. I also think when U reestablish U'r mountains ⛰ a plateau could allow for a transitional place for Ninjago land & even a modified plateau for the Disney castle...everything looks great, definitely inspirational. Well done 😊

This is coming along so nicely, I'm loving it so far! I think if you really like it (cuz I certainly do), you should keep the modulars back-to-back with the others. I really like the new perspective it adds to the city! And I think you had a great idea for the train track, with breaking it off where you wanted and making it loop around there! I think it would be great if you left the rest of that space for the mini-modulars like you were saying, but it's up to you!

Pushing that tunnel back to make it a right angle would take away space from the upper section giving it to the tracks which dont need it.

What if you keep the second row of modulars facing back, but raise them up some? That way you get the visual interest from the front of an additional roof line, and a great new street in back.

@MrBookieboo At the start of your video you mention you've added the little tunnel between the buildings ( Palace cinema and gas station).
