An in-depth look at the redesigned LEGO Wawa Gas Station. Over on the other channel you might remember the original gas station I did in 2017 specifically to debut at the NMRA National Train Show. It's been probably the most delicate model to transport due to how I built it, and after finally collapsing at the end of a GFLUG event in 2021, the decision was made to rebuild it from the ground up.
"Version 2" has various firsts for this model and for my works as well. The interior is detailed for the first time, and a fake skylight was inserted to allow ambient show lighting to expose the interior. The model is my first entry into the new MILS standard, which is meant to allow sturdier city models and infuse infrastructure with buildings and scenery much more seamlessly. The supports for the top heavy fueling side have been reengineered. Lastly, of course with time the LEGO palette evolves, and having access to new parts in Cool Yellow, Medium Nougat, and even basic colors like white and dark gray enable a more convincing build.
With this model set to debut at the GFLUG's display at the Tampa Brick Fan Fest, I am very excited to share this newly redone model and look forward to sharing it at many events to come.
