Kinda sad that young people don't know about Concorde. My Dad took me to the airport in Auckland in 1986 to see it - never forget it. Sadly a poorly maintained 1970's aircraft (a DC10) that dropped debris on the runway and caused a fatal accident that killed a lot of very rich people (and thus a lot of legal suits), plus the horrific fuel costs of running it brought it to an end.

this is like a UCS set almost, love it, even the price is very good! Nice to see Lego not money grabbing on this like some other sets lately. Landing gear is cool, and being able to manipulate it and move it around and it hold together is huge too, means itll be easy to hang from fishing line and not worry. The stand is also a huge step up for Lego and very nice

@@RealTonyMontanaI've got 3 year old girl (and maybe this will have changed by the time she's interested and learning about things like aviation) and I can wait to feel how surreal it will be, telling her about Concorde. Like we USED to be able to cross the Atlantic in 3 hours. Now we can't. Like we went backwards or something. I know it's not quite that simple but still. For an aircraft designed in the 60s with pencils and slide rules to be our aviation magnum opus! Wild

I had a great time building this as well. This is the first set I've seen with orange "scaffolding" elements to help with keeping the build stable during construction. Also, having a length 8 axle sticking out of the back of this build for 200 straight steps until you remove it to put the tail on blew my mind. Lots of really great Lego engineering going on here, and the final result is just beautiful.

I loved planes growing up, and would make countless paper airplanes (I even made 100 for a class project alone!). This certainly looks like something I might gift myself this Christmas. The yellowing of the white pieces is not really an issue of sunlight, it is more an issue with temperature coming with sunlight. The UV-radiation helps to counter the yellowing. It is even more effective when bathing the pieces in hydrogen peroxide (keep the stuff far, far away from children und always wear protective gear when using hydrogen peroxide!!!) and using UV-radiation.

"Quick" correction for you - this is gonna be long, because it's a genuinely interesting topic and I wanna share things that interest me, this being one of them, but you don't have to take the time to read it all if you don't want. Concorde is -not- the most famous and innovative aircraft of our time - you could argue it is the most *in*famous aircraft in recent history (Though it is one of the most well known) - and while when it launched it was ground-breaking technology-wise, it was a commercial disaster. The reasons behind this are many and all very interesting but it boils down to the following issues: High maintenance cost; High fuel consumption; High risk of structural failure; High sound pollution; High research and build cost resulting in high retail price for companies. It used several insanely cool features to help it do what it did, and it wasn't the only aircraft like it either. The Russians had their own version called the TU-144. Britain and France worked together to make Concorde, sinking billions into a very troubled research period where things just did not go according to plan - by the time it rolled off the production line it had become so expensive that nobody wanted to buy it. Britain and France ended up being the only people who manned them and much less were made than they wanted too. they guzzled fuel and were infamously problematic with maintenance, so they were expensive to run - but worst of all, they were loud both inside and out - so much so that they could not go supersonic above land, making them entirely useless for cross-country, only good for trans-Atlantic flights. Admittedly, they *were* good at that, but the cost effectiveness was very low as their high maintenance also resulted in high ticket prices. They also exploded. A lot. this isn't new technology, they were in commercial use in the 1970's. 76 specifically, though the first test flight was 69. The honest truth is, they never should have been built but Britain and France spent so much on building them that they ended up in a sunk cost fallacy, stubbornly keeping it around until they proved to be more hazardous and justification was no longer viable. That was in 2000, and were formally decommissioned for good in 2003, so they really are a relic of history now. Twenty years, it's bizarre because even though I'm not that old, I remember the day they were announced as being grounded and decommissioned. Despite all their flaws, the Concorde DOES remain one of the coolest looking planes with one of the most interesting stories in recent history, but it isn't as current as you think. they're a 50 year old plane that hasn't been in service for 20 years... and despite having had the technology to make supersonic airlines for 50 years now, we never tried again. The Concorde is the whole reason why: It's only useful in specific circumstances, horrendously inefficient and honestly so expensive that it's genuinely better just to suck it up for a few more hours rather than burn several hundred tonnes of fuel on a trip that with modern planes would take a fraction of the amount. Doesn't stop plane enthusiasts like myself from loving this thing to bits. Everyone loves a droop snoot. Amazing piece of history, definitely worth looking into more!

As an Air crash investigation fan this is great set that i am definitely getting for Christmas, and it based of Concorde 001 F WTSS which is now displayed and the Le Bourget Air and Space Museum in France 🇫🇷

Looks more like its based upon the pre-production concordes (101 and 102) - notice the "Concorde" logo on the tail.

2000 piece set for $200 in this economy and inflation is pretty good. Most licensed sets are over $0.10 a piece so not sure why you said it's not valued that well.

The more I watch reviews of this set, the more I think that this might actually be the perfect LEGO set.

I think it looks amazing. Almost 100% smooth. Only thing that I’m turned off by is the cockpit area. Just a little lacking compared to the rest of the jet. Would have upgraded this to perfection with a custom molded piece that would have fit better. That’s a knit picking. Not big into planes but could see myself buying it.

0:38, not at all! I'm a big plane enthusiast and the Concorde is one of my favorites! However, I grew up on Lego, so I was hyped for this set! Thanks for the review.

Cool trivia. Phil Collins performed in two concerts in London then 5 hours later in Philadelphia and flew Concorde.

Concord was a fantastic looking plane for the day and age, super futuristic feeling Was a sad day when when they got grounded and never flew again. Could have changed aviation

I collect diecast aircraft models in 1:200 scale and the only concern for me is the size of that thing
